Myers Park HS Scout Day: Outfielder & Catcher Analysis
October 24, 2018
In mid-October, as many players are hitting their fall peak and looking forward to some downtime as the winter season approaches, Myers Park High School hosted a PBR Scout Day. The Scout Day featured 36 players from the 2019 – 2022 classes. 32 of the 36 players call Myers Park HS home.
Position players went through a full workout, including a laser timed 60 yard dash, an offensive evaluation in the cages and live on the field, as well as a defensive workout. Pitchers were able to throw controlled bullpens where their velocities and stuff were evaluated. As we begin to dive into the Scout Day, we will start with a look at the statistical information gathered from the day. Running speeds, exit velocities, arm velocities, pop time and more were all recorded giving coaches and scouts their first glimpse at this talented group of players.
The outfielders saw 6 players workout, 5 of which are uncommitted. Two uncommitted 2019s from the group have tools in place to make a potential impact at the next level. There are a handful of underclass players that stood out as well.
Behind the dish, three catchers worked out, with one each from the 2019, 2021, and 2022 classes. Each catcher was able to showcase their ability behind the plate, throwing to 2B, blocking and recovering, and receiving live arms.
By The Numbers:
+ 36 players took part in the Scout Day
+ 14 pitchers threw controlled bullpens with Keener leading the way, bumping 88
