DIRECTOR NOTES

BISHOP GORMAN (17) - DESERT OASIS (2)

This Mountain League rivalry has become one of the state's top rivalries and the electricity at the beginning of yesterday's matchup was no different. After a scoreless top of the 1st from Uncommitted 2022 RHP, Jordan Metzger, the Diamondbacks jumped out early with a 2-run bottom of the first with the help of a 2-RBI single to right field from Mesa CC Recruit, Justin Walker, scoring Long Beach State Commit, Jet Gilliam, and UCSB Commit, Seth Lyons. The Gaels answered back in the top of the 2nd as Cal Baptist Signee, Joey Randazzo, got things rolling with a loud double off the right-centerfield wall as he continues to be one of the steady bats in their lineup, making the most of each of his opportunities in the heart of the order. After back to back singles to put runners on first and second, a sharp single back up the middle from projected top round pick and LSU Signee, Justin Crawford, brings to bring in the second run and tie it up. After an extended first inning, CSN Signee, Lucas Boesen, seems to find his rhythm on the mound as he allowed only 1 hit the rest of the game with his mostly fastball/curveball mix, running it up to 87 mph with an ability to locate his fastball around the zone to as he struck out 6 over his 4 innings of work while inducing weak contact to get the Gaels back in the dugout. In the top of the 3rd and 4th, Gorman put up 15 combined runs behind multi-hit days from Justin Crawford - 2 (LSU), Maddox Riske - 2 (#1 ranked Uncommitted 2024), Easton Shelton - 2 (UNLV), Gunnar Myro - 2 (UNLV), Joey Randazzo - 2 (CBU), Anthony Marnell IV - 3 (Oregon State), Tommy Rose - 3 (Uncommitted). With the post season just a few days away, the top ranked Bishop Gorman Gaels seem to be catching their stride at the right time to make a deep playoff run.
