Uncommitted Spotlight: 2022 RHP/IF Luke Metzker

As the we begin the Winter Season, heading into the first "normal" Spring since 2019, the next few months will be critical for players in the Class of 2022 as collegiate programs at each level are solidifying their recruiting rosters. The NCAA Recruiting Calendar allows for limited contact during the current time period and as a result of that, recruiting coordinators have turned to social media and website coverage of players to help provide objective insight on potential prospects. With that, we will begin highlighting the top prospects the Silver State has to offer in an effort to get our players with college aspirations an opportunity at the next level, wherever that may be with the Uncommitted Spotlight feature.

Luke Metzker - Bishop Manogue | RHP/IF

The Bishop Manogue product has two-way potential with significant upside on the mound, finds himself in an exclusive group as one of the few players to attend the 2020 Future Games, then producing a standout performance on the mound and at the plate at inaugural West Coast Games as a member of Team Nevada. In the day and age of metric assisted evaluations, he produced impressive numbers on both sides the ball that continue to trend in a positive direction running it up to 90 mph across the infield after running at 6.86 Laser Timed 60. However, his future may be on the bump after running his fastball up to 88 mph at a 2300 rpm Average Spin Rate, paired with his breaking ball that could be a potential plus pitch with a current Average Spin Rate of 2477 rpm via TrackMan that he showed his ability and confidence to throw for strikes in just about any count. He compliments his on-field abilities with being an excellent dugout guy, playing with contagious energy each time he takes their field and will play a key role in the success of a talented Miners group that has the bats and arms to make a deep run into the postseason this Spring.
