Uncommitted Spotlight: 2022 MIF Mason Rowe

As the we begin the Winter Season, heading into the first "normal" Spring since 2019, the next few months will be critical for players in the Class of 2022 as collegiate programs at each level are solidifying their recruiting rosters. The NCAA Recruiting Calendar allows for limited contact during the current time period and as a result of that, recruiting coordinators have turned to social media and website coverage of players to help provide objective insight on potential prospects. With that, we will begin highlighting the top prospects the Silver State has to offer in an effort to get our players with college aspirations an opportunity at the next level, wherever that may be with the Uncommitted Spotlight feature.

Mason Rowe - Reno | MIF

The Reno shortstop is a "gamer" type where his numbers may not jump off the page, but as you watch him play you can't help but notice his presence and the effect he has on the game. The #TeamNevada representative at the inaugural West Coast Games has a simple style of play with a high IQ to go with clean, fluid defensive actions that could keep him at the shortstop position at the next level with the ability to shift over to second base if needed and a compact, efficient stroke at the plate that allows him to find the barrel with consistency to go with his ability to spray the ball to all fields. At a lean 6-foot-1, his ability to add size and strength in the coming years allows for more improvements in his foot speed on the base paths, defensive range and power at the plate. The premium position prospect projects to be one of the next Nevada 2022's to come off the board.
