Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma hosted the second annual OK Summer Open I.D. on Tuesday, July 17th, at the newly turfed Wendell Simmons Field at the University of Central Oklahoma. The event showcased a sold out 55 player roster from all grad classes. Each position player went through a pro-style workout and pitchers threw in a bull pen session.

Today, we take a look at the four highly talented left-handed pitchers from the event. Though they are all two-way players, they will be covered here only as pitchers, with their positional analysis will come later.

A broad and durable 6-foot-2, 230-pound frame with strength and athleticism. On the mound, the left-hander works from an abbreviated wind-up with rhythm before gliding down the mound and finishing far to the third base side. Arm action is clean and moderate behind him before coming through a high-¾ slot with quickness. Fastball shows occasional arm-side run at 85-88 mph, mostly strikes. Curveball has sweeping shape with some late depth at 76-77 mph, mostly strikes. Changeup is thrown for strikes with slight fade at 78-81 mph.

Dondi King Jr. LHP / OF / Edmond Santa Fe, OK / 2021

An athletic 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame with advanced strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly up-tempo delivery with a high leg kick before gliding to the dish. Arm action has some stiffness, dropping straight down behind him before a quick change of direction, coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball sits 76-77 mph with heavy arm side run, mostly strikes. Curveball shows 1/7 shape with gradual break at 68-69 mph. Knuckleball dances consistently at 69-70 mph.

Conley Rae LHP / 1B / Owasso, OK / 2020

A physically impressive 6-foot-6, 220-pound frame. On the mound, the left-hander works from a controlled delivery with a moderate leg kick before driving down the mound and finishing slightly to the third base side. Arm action is long and fluid in the back coming through a high-¾ slot cleanly. Fastball sits 79-81 mph with some downhill tilt, some strikes. Curveball shows 1/7 shape with slurvy action, mostly strikes. Changeup is thrown in the zone with slight fade at 67-68 with near fastball arm speed.

Carson Thomas LHP / OF / Carl Albert, OK / 2020

A 6-foot, 160-pound lean frame with some quick twitch actions. On the mound, the left-hander works from an abbreviated wind-up with rhythm and athleticism before striding slightly across his body and finishing to the third base side. Arm action is long and fluid in the back coming through a high-¾ slot loosely with quickness. Fastball ranges 81-85 mph with some life and some strikes. Curveball has near 12/6 shape at 72-74 mph with late depth and consistent strikes. Changeup sits 75-76 mph with slight cut and consistent strikes.
