PBR Spring Training: Day 3/4 Quick Hits I

Cam Black-Araujo
Assistant Director, PBR Canada

PBR Canada Spring Training continues to roll as we're now four days into the week-long event at Launch Pad Sports Complex in Cocoa, Florida.

Day Three saw a full PBR showcase with defensive and hitting evaluations, as well as the 60-yard dash while Day Four included strictly game-action with 15 total games across four fields at the complex.

We have full staff on hand from Canada and Florida with five active fields filled with 230+ Canadian prospects. We had 8 total games played on Sunday among eight different Canadian squads from the Ontario Giants, NRS Academy, Canes Canada, Whitby Canadians, Etobicoke Rangers, Ontario Prospects and PBR Canada Selects.

Below, we continue to break down everything with video and scouting notes on eight standouts from the past two days.

SPRING TRAINING QUICK HITS: DAY 3/4

Hudson White LHP / OF / Holy Heart of Mary, NL / 2024

2024 LHP Hudson White (Illinois State) is one of the highest-profile arms here in Cocoa and didn’t disappoint in the nightcap at the stadium. Added strength was evident on the mound at 6-foot-4, 217-pounds and he pounded the zone with the fastball at 86-88 T89. Had plenty of swing/miss on the pitch and coupled it with a tight breaking ball that had shape at 72-74. Attackers hitters and made quick work on the mound. Impressive start to the year one of the top prospects on the East Coast and also swung the bat well.

Max Jewusiak OF / 1B / Assumption, ON / 2024

While ‘24 OF/1B Max Jewusiak didn’t have a ton to show in the box score, he found some barrels throughout the day and flashed his offensive potential. Big, strong right-handed hitter at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds and there’s lots to like in the right-handed swing. Balanced and quiet in the box with a big-leg kick that helps generate torque. One of the better looking uncommitted prospects at PBR Spring Training.

Adam Carmichael RHP / 3B / Sinclair , ON / 2024

Uncommitted 2024 RHP Adam Carmichael had one of the most dominant performances on Monday as he pounded the zone with all of his pitches. Fastball sat 81-83mph during the entirety of his outing and he set down the first 3 batters he faced via the strikeout. Had feel for the slider at 66-70 and could throw it in any count. Good looking uncommitted 2024 who continues to trend upwards and has the stuff and command that should draw interest from college coaches.

Elias Rubio-Reyes SS / 3B / St. Michael's College , ON / 2026

2026 SS Elias Rubio-Reyes is one of the more physical 2026s here this week and flashed his strength at the dish today as he found the barrel multiple times with one going for a standup double to the opposite field. Rubio-Reyes was on our radar heading into the week and hasn’t disappointed as he’s handled himself well in the box against some good arms. Product of the Ontario Terriers.

Marko Lashkiv SS / RHP / Richview Collegiate Institute , ON / 2023

2023 RHP Marko Lashkiv (USC Lancaster commit) is another one of the top senior arms here this week and produced some of the best velocity we saw on the day. Fastball sat 83-85mph and although the command was spotty, he was getting swings/misses while working in the zone. Sweepy action on the slider at 76-79mph (2700+ rpm) and the pitch was efficient when he was able to keep it down the zone. Not the best outing we’ve seen from Lashkiv but he did a job of battling and limiting the runs.

Ben Rogers LHP / 1B / Silverthorn Collegiate Institute, ON / 2023

2023 LHP Ben Rogers (Indianapolis) has a presence on the mound at 6-foot-7, 220-pounds from the left-side and took the mound for the first time this week. Worked almost predominantly with the fastball that sat 81-83mph and seemed to work his way out of a couple innings with runners on. 2022 PBR Spring Training MV-Pitcher and should be plenty more in the tank for him going forward as he prepares to head to the University of Indianpolis.

Trentin Kooy OF / RHP / Marion Graham Collegiate, SK / 2026

2026 OF/RHP Trentin Kooy jumped out to our staff yesterday with his swing during Scout Day and impressed on the mound this afternoon as well. The fastball sat 73-76 T78 and his go-to offspeed is the slider. Athletic look on the mound at 5-foot-9, 167-pounds and competes. Still developing on the bump but there’s plenty to like and work with going forward. One of the standout 2026s from Day One here at Spring Training.

Brennan Herr C / RHP / Lambrick Park, BC / 2025

2025 RHP/C Brennan Herr showed well on the mound and at the dish on Day 4 of Spring Training. Had a quality two innings of work up against a strong Canes Canada lineup and attacked hitters with the fastball at 81-83 T84 and kept hitters off balance with the ability to throw the soft stuff for strikes. Can work both the edges of the plate to both righties and lefties. Followed it up with a hard single to the opposite field. Strong player at 6-foot, 180-pounds and had his tools on display today.
