Red TEAM
TOP PROSPECTs
Hunter Klotz, 2021, C/OF, Central HS (Martinsburg) PA
6-foot-2, 190-pound left-handed hitter took an impressive round of batting practice and opened up game action with a triple driven to the wall in right-center field. The underclassman starts from a square stance and utilizes a short, lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Creates above average barrel whip as evidenced by his current 84 mph bat exit velocity, a number that will incorporate as he learns to clear his lower half more efficiently allowing his hand to work through the baseball. Current gap-to-gap power should continue to develop as he adds strength to his already advanced frame. Quiet receiver flashed quick feet, a clean transition and little wasted movement with pop times of 2.14-2.20 on throws of 70 mph from the crouch.
Rockne Seidel, 2019, RHP, Cathedral Prep (PA)
Currently ranked No. 83 in the PA Class of 2019, Seidel was the most impressive pitcher to toe the rubber on day one of the event. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder sat 84-86 while touching 87 mph several times during his three innings of work. The fastball is flat but the arm is very quick out of a high 3/4 arm slot with a short arm swing. Some work to lengthen his arm swing and a slightly lower arm slot could easily add several mph of velocity and movement to the fastball in the coming years. His changeup at 78-79 and curveball at 68-70 with 11/5 rotation are average, but his slider has the potential to be a consistent out pitch at the next level. The slider sits 75-77 with sharp late break and was commanded consistently for strikes. Seidel allowed just one hit over three innings while striking out three and inducing five ground ball outs.
