2019 Preseason Preview: Outfield Analysis

The 2019 Preseason Preview took place January 26th at Keystone State Baseball Academy. Today we begin a series of articles analyzing the prospects in attendance beginning with a look at those players that participated as outfielders.

Top Prospect
Chris Andrews, Southern Lehigh HS (PA), Class of 2020, OF
6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitter starts from a wide, square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Displayed balance throughout with a strong lower half and a flat barrel path through the zone. Barreled the baseball consistently with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Showcased athletic actions defensively with a long throwing motion. Registered 80 mph arm strength from his outfield position and ran a 6.83 60-yard dash.

Nathan Brightbill, Cedar Crest HS (PA), Class of 2021, OF
5-foot-10, 30-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing from a high elbow load with a lift-and-replace stride. Displayed a line drive approach with a bat exit velocity of 67 mph. Showcased an ability to play through the baseball routinely from his outfield position with 68 mph arm strength and ran an event best 6.75 60-yard dash.
Kaden Cantrell, Cedar Crest HS (PA), Class of 2021, OF
5-foot-10, 185-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Swing is dominated by his upper half resulting in difficulty getting to extension with regularity. Registered a 69 mph bat exit velocity and displayed 65 mph arm strength from his outfield position. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash.
Coule Maucere, West Babylon HS (NY), Class of 2021, OF
5-foot-8, 150-pound left-handed hitter starts from an open stance and initiates his swing with a leg hang stride. Displayed a solid hip turn and an ability to stay behind the baseball while consistently making hard contact with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Showcased a long, low 3/4 arm action from the outfield with 76 mph arm strength. Ran a 7.19 60-yard dash.
Angel Polanco, First Philadelphia Prep Charter (PA), Class of 2020, OF
5-foot-10, 135-pound right-handed hitter starts from a narrow, square stance and initiates his swing with a heel-raise stride. Displayed a line drive approach with a feel for the barrel while registering a bat exit velocity of 70 mph. Showcased athletic defensive actions while routinely playing through the baseball. Registered 77 mph arm strength and ran a 7.42 60-yard dash.
Nick Rodriguez, Emmaus HS (PA), Class of 2020, OF/RHP
5-foot-9, 150-pound right-handed hitter begins from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased balance throughout with balance throughout and above average hip turn while registering a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Ran a 7.43 60-yard dash and registered 77 mph arm strength from the outfield. Two-way prospect sat 73-76 with some cut action to his fastball. Curveball sat 61-62 with short 11/5 break. Changeup showed some arm-side run at 72-73.
