Cedar Cliff Tops Daniel Boone for District Title

By Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

Cedar cliff 3, Daniel Boone 2

Cedar Cliff got three runs in the 4th inning and sophomore Trey Law made them stand up with a complete game four hit effort. Law worked efficiently walking one and hitting a pair while his defense played error free behind him.

Cedar Cliff sent seven batters to the plate in the pivotal 4th inning after Law and Daniel Boone starter Zach Brightbill had traded zeros for the first three innings.  Maddux Ryan worked a one out walk to start the rally and moved to second base on a single by Louisville commit Bobby Whalen.  Law helped his own cause one batter later when he singled to left to score Ryan with the game's first run. A hit batter loaded the bases for sophomore Logan Ball who then delivered a two-run single to cap the rally.  Daniel Boone escaped further damage with a sharp 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.

Daniel Boone responded in their half of the 4th inning with two runs on an infield single by senior Devon Garner to start the inning.  A hit batter, a pair of groundouts and an RBI infield single by Robert Kurtz cut the lead to 3-2.

Law took matters into his own hands from that point facing the minimum over the final three innings, aided by a 3-6 double play to end the eight on a ball that Mount St. Mary's recruit Tommy Savastio handled a ground ball at first base for the second out of the inning and made a perfect throw to second to cut down a runner to complete the twin killing.

Brendan Rivoli, a Virginia recruit, led the Blazers' four hit attack with a 1-for-3 night with a double. Whalen (2-4, R) and Ball (2-3, 2 RBI) led the Colts' offense.
