Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase Analysis: Outfielders

The 2015 Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase took place on July 1, at War Memorial Field on the campus of Ephrata High School. Our rundown of the participants continues today with the 10 outfielders in attendance.

outfielders:  Class of 2016


Cole Swiger, OF/3B, Upper Dublin

5-foot-9, 180-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a lift and replace stride to initiate his swing. Solid frame and physical hitter displayed some pop with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Athletic prospect showed ability to play both outfield and third base at next level. Showcased a 6.80 60-yard dash and an accurate 84 mph arm from the outfield with straight line carry.
 

Isaac Wengert, OF/RHP, Northern Lebanon

6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a leg lift stride. Barreled the baseball routinely with an 84 mph bat exit velocity. Showcased athletic actions defensively with a 7.03 60-yard dash and an accurate 83 mph arm with solid carry.

Hunter Rang, LHP/OF, Bermudian Springs

6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance and initiates swing with a heel raise stride. Displayed strong wrists and forearms while incorporating limited lower half action. Flat bat path resulted in a bat exit velocity of 75 mph. Showcased a 7.45 60-yard dash and an accurate 73 mph arm from the outfield.  

Adam Reed, OF, South Western

5-foot-5, 145-pound right handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with no stride. Displayed a flat swing path with a line drive approach and a bat exit velocity of 72 mph. Showcased a 7.69 60-yard dash and an accurate 70 mph arm from the outfield. All-around game will benefit from strength gains and physical maturation. 

Shane Walker, OF/MIF, Downingtown West

6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed batter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a short lift and replace stride to initiate his swing. Uses a line drive approach with much of the work done with his hands with a bat exit velocity of 70 mph. Showcased a 7.20 60-yard dash with an accurate 75 mph arm.  

Stephen Williams, C/OF, Daniel Boone

5-foot-9, 150-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a heel raise stride to initiate his swing. Displayed significant barrel drag with a bat exit velocity of 73 mph. Showcased a 7.78 60-yard dash and an accurate 71 mph arm from the outfield. All around game will benefit from additional strength gains and physical maturation. 

Rick Woodall, OF, Octorara

5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly open, crouched stance. Uses a lift and replace stride and a significant weight shift to create a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Showcased an 8.06 60-yard dash and an accurate 75 mph arm from the outfield.

Tyler Arnold, MIF/OF, William Tennent, 2019

5-foot-10, 140-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a short lift and replace stride to initiate his swing. A drop of his hands to the launch point causes barrel drag through the hitting zone with a bat exit velocity of 75 mph. Showcased a 7.98 60-yard dash and 70 mph arm strength from the outfield.

Evan Marushak, OF, Emmaus, 2018

5-foot-11, 170-pound left-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a short lift and replace stride. Displayed quick hands and an 83 mph bat exit velocity. Showcased a 7.07 60-yard dash and athletic actions defensively with an 83 mph arm with solid straight line carry. 

Kyle Rhoads, MIF/OF/RHP, Cocalico, 2019

5-foot-9, 140-pound right-handed hitter barreled the baseball routinely from a square stance with a short lift and replace stride. A short swing path creates a bat exit velocity of 76 mph. Rhoads showcased a 7.65 60-yard dash and an accurate 81 mph arm from the outfield. The incoming freshman showed athletic actions, a quick release and the ability to play through the baseball.
