Elite Prospect Showcase Spotlight: OF Kyle Hess

By Jacob Gill
Pennsylvania Assistant Director of Scouting

Exactly five weeks remain until PBR Pennsylvania's Elite Prospect Showcase on November 7th at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim. Today, we continue our series of previews on prospects who will be in attendance, as we highlight Donegal 2018 outfielder Kyle Hess.

Hess is a 6-foot, 170-pound left-handed hitter with a quality across-the-board tool set. He exhibits pre-swing hand rhythm, while flashing bat speed and a short path to the baseball. Hess is an above average runner (he posted a 7.00 60-yard dash on a slow track due to long grass and overnight rain) and has a chance to develop into some power (82-mph exit velocity). Defensively, he showed an accurate 80-mph arm with carry. A near every-game starter as a freshman for the PIAA class AAA semifinalist Indians, Hess hit .258 with a .387 on-base percentage and seven stolen bases in his rookie campaign.
