The Fall Kickoff Showcase Tournament on August 17-19 brought together six travel teams from across the state as well as a pair of teams constructed by Prep Baseball Report with prospects not on one of the six travel teams. Today we take a look at eight pitcher onlys that threw in a PBR uniform during the course of the three day event.

Pitcher Onlys: (in alphabetical order)

Ryan BasarabDanny CollinsonTony DeLawrenceZach Garlinger

Ryan Basarab, RHP, West Chester East HS (PA), 2020
6-foot-5, 195-pound righty sat 81-84 while touching 86 mph from a high 3/4 to over-the-top arm slot in rainy conditions. Basarab commanded the zone well with a three pitch mix working three hitless innings while striking out four. His curveball at 72-73 showed tight 12/6 rotation and got plenty of swinging strikes. The changeup at 74-75 was thrown with good sell as an effective third pitch. Basarab repeats his delivery well and showed the ability to get downhill creating tilt to the plate.

Danny Collinson, RHP, West Chester Henderson HS (PA), 2019
6-foot-2, 195-pound righty sat 73-76 out of a 3/4 arm slot working solely from the stretch. Allowed just one run in three innings of work during tournament action striking out one. Effectively kept hitters off balance utilizing a three pitch mix registering five outs by way of ground balls. Curveball showed 11/5 rotation at 63-66. Changeup was thrown at near fastball arm speed at 69-70. Physical frame with repeatable mechanics. Additional velocity spikes likely moving forward.

Tony DeLawrence, LHP, Perkiomen Valley HS (PA), 2020
Fresh off of an impressive performance as a member of Team Pennsylvania at the PBR Future Games where his fastball sat 87-88, DeLawrence was down in velo a bit on this day. The steady light rain had an effect but the lefty was still effect working at 82-84 from his high 3/4 arm slot. Workiing around four walks in three innings of work, DeLawrence yielded just one run while striking out four. His curveball was his go to pitch on this date sitting 71-72 with late 1/7 break.

Zach Garlinger, RHP, East Pennsboro HS (PA), 2020
6-foot-2, 160-pound righty sat 83-85, touching 88 mph early from an over-the-top arm slot. Showcased a sharp breaking curveball at 71-73 with 11/5 rotation on this date. Worked three innings allowing one hit while striking out five. Following a solid showing for Team Pennsylvania at the PBR Future Games Garlinger will be a highly followed arm in this class moving forward.

Matt Henderson, RHP, Daniel Boone HS (PA), 2019
6-foot-1, 190-pound uncommitted senior was impressive sitting 83-85, while touching 86 mph in his third inning of work out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Henderson pounded the zone and effectively mixed a curveball with 11/5 shape at 73-74 along with a slider at 77-78. The physical righty worked three scoreless innings without allowing a hit. He struck out five while walking two and allowed just one ball to leave the infield.

Luke Holman, RHP, Wyomissing HS (PA), 2021
Facing a deep and talented Allegheny Pirates offense Holman was just as sharp as he was two weeks ago as a member of Team Pennsylvania at the PBR Future Games. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound righty sat 85-86 from a high 3/4 arm slot while getting repeated swinging strikes from his curveball at 72/73. Holman's curveball is an advanced pitch with a very high spin rate and a chance to be a difference maker at the next level. The sophomore also utilized a changeup with good sell at 71-73 and a splitter that showed tumbling action at 68-71. He allowed one hit over three innings while striking out four.

Tristin Lockett, RHP, Mifflin County HS (PA), 2019
6-foot, 175-pound Shepherd University commit sat 82-84 from an over-the-top arm slot. His curveball with 12/6 shape is thrown with intent at 73-75 and will be an effective pitch for him at the next level. Lockett also showcased a changeup at 74-75 at near fastball arm speed.

Jake Madden, RHP, East Pennsboro HS (PA), 2020
Following a summer that saw the 6-foot-4, 160-pound righty climb up the PA Class of 2020 player rankings, Madden showed a loose, quick arm from a high 3/4 arm slot sitting 87-89 while touching 90 mph. His curveball with 11/5 rotation rolled a bit on this date at 73-76, but has the makings of a quality second offering. Madden also showcased a feel for his changeup at 79-81. Repeats his delivery well and gets a lot out of his lower half. His projectable frame will easily carry an additional 30-40 pounds in the coming years.
