Manheim Central 7, Lancaster Catholic 1
Manheim Central ran its record to 6-2 on Monday behind a complete game five hit effort from Colton Book. The lefty, ranked No. 65 in the PA Class of 2021. Book allowed just a single run on a sacrifice fly in the 4th inning while striking out seven and walking two.
Book also led the offensive attack for the Barons going 3-for-4 on the day. Hunter Hess added a 2-for-3 day with an RBI while Cole Lastinger's double got the offense started for Manheim Central plating the first of three 2nd inning runs.
Lancaster Catholic, the defending PIAA AAA state champs, saw its record fall to 6-1-1 with the loss. Pitt recruit Cam Barto, ranked No. 77 in the PA Class of 2019, had the only multi-hit day for the Crusaders going 2-for-4 with a double.
Manheim Central continues a busy week with a date at Lebanon Catholic on Wednesday before returning home to host Pequea Valley on Friday.
Lancaster Catholic will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday when they host Cocalico.
