PBR Evaluation & Measurables Showcase Analysis: Class of 2021 Position Players

The PBR Evaluation & Measurables Showcase took place December 30th at Keystone State Baseball Academy. Today we continue our analysis of the players in attendance by taking a look at position players from the Class of 2021.

Top Prospect
Dylan DuCharme, OF, Spring-Ford HS (PA)
5-foot-10, 160-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a leg-hang stride to initiate his swing. Displayed the ability to back spin the baseball with regularity and some present pop to the pull side while consistently squaring the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Showcased athletic actions defensively with above average carry on throws of 83 mph from the outfield and flashed his foot speed by running a 6.95 60-yard dash.

Jason Batista, 1B, Bethlehem Catholic HS (PA)
5-foot-10, 172-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a heel-raise stride. Displayed a feel for the barrel with balance throughout and a bat exit velocity of 72 mph. Ran a 7.96 60-yard dash and showcased a soft glove hand defensively. Short arm throwing motion across the diamond resulted in throws of 57 mph.
Brady Faust, 3B, Blue Mountain HS (PA)
5-foot-7, 140-pound right-handed hitter starts from a wide, slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short, lift-and-replace stride. Displayed a short swing path and a solid feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 71 mph. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash and showcased a developing skill set defensively with accurate 64 mph arm strength across the diamond. Overall game will benefit from strength gains and physical maturity.
Iann Firestone, C, Conrad Weiser HS (PA)
5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from an athletic setup and utilizes a strong lower half to create significant barrel whip. Showcase an above average feel for the barrel with developing pop to the pull side and registered a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Ran a 7.80 60-yard dash and displayed pop times of 2.19-2.28 on throws of 69 mph from the crouch. Presents a soft wall when blocking and projects as a quality receiver at the next level.
Mikey Gregos, 3B/SS, Danile Boone HS (PA)
5-foot-9, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a leg-hang stride with some lower half glide to initiate his swing. Some length in the swing leads to some barrel drag with a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash and displayed active feet with accurate 68 mph arm strength across the diamond defensively.
Ethan Phillips, 3B, Red Land HS (PA)
5-foot-9, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from a narrow, slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a leg-lift stride. Displayed a line drive approach with a flat barrel path through the hitting zone with a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. Displayed the tendency to field the baseball flat footed defensively and cuts off his back side in throws across the diamond. Additional work to play through the baseball along with continued physical maturity will lead to improvement in his current 66 mph arm strength. Did not run the 60-yard dash on this date.
Nikolas Toocheck, OF/2B, Unionville HS (PA)
5-foot-7, 130-pound prospect is also an accomplished marathon runner. The right-handed hitter starts from a wide, slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short, leg-hang stride. Displayed a line drive approach with a feel for the barrel and a 72 mph bat exit velocity. Displayed the ability to play through the baseball consistently with accurate 71 mph arm strength from the outfield. Also showcased active feet and a quick release with a skill set best suited for second base during his infield workout. Ran a 7.83 60-yard dash.
Zack Kramer, OF, Cumberland Valley HS (PA)
5-foot-8, 135-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a leg-lift stride. Displayed an easy, fluid stroke with a feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 72 mph. Ran a 7.49 60-yard dash and showcased the ability to play through the baseball with accurate 69 mph arm strength from the outfield. Solid skill set will continue to develop through strength gains and physical maturity.
Gavin Neal, 2B/C, Palmyra HS (PA)
5-foot-5, 125-pound primary infielder showcased active feet and a quick release with accurate 68 mph arm strength across the diamond. Also displayed pop times of 2.27-2.33 on throws of 65 mph from the crouch as a catcher. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a leg-hang stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a solid feel for the barrel with a middle of the field approach and a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Ran a 7.94 60-yard dash.
Asa Wilson, C/1B, Exeter Township HS (PA)
6-foot-1, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a short, lift-and-replace stride. Showcased a short swing path with a flat barrel path through the hitting zone while making consistent hard contact. Registered a 73 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.51 60-yard dash. Displayed pop times of 2.22-2.30 on throws of 69 mph from the crouch as a primary catcher while also showing the ability to move to first base.
