PBR Fall Kickoff Showcase Tournament Preview: Team PBR

Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

The annual Fall Kickoff Showcase tournament kicks off on Friday, August 16th with eight teams participating in a round robin format over the course of three days at Cooper Park on the campus of Millersville University.

Four teams get tournament action started, with each playing two games on Friday. The same four teams will wrap up play Saturday morning with four additional teams playing a single game Saturday afternoon and a pair of games each on Sunday.

Today we begin a preview of the rosters and a handful of the talented prospects from each team scheduled to participate for Team PBR. A live scout blog will run each day of the tournament with scouting notes and scoring updates for all 12 games in the tournament.

Team PBR

Prep Baseball ReportTeam PBR consists of players from across the state, and one from West Virginia, not on the rosters of any of the remaining seven teams participating.

The roster includes one 2022 prospect with 12 players from the Class of 2020 or 2021.

LHP Carter Welch (Northwestern Lehigh), a participant in last week's PBR Future Games for Team Pennsylvania, will highlight the Team PBR pitching staff. Welch will pitch the first two innings on Saturday looking to build on the success he had in Georgia.

2022 LHP/OF James Lordi (James Thorpe Area) is the only committed prospect on the roster. The two-way prospect committed to Penn State shortly after a standout performance as a member of the Team Pennsylvania 14U roster at the 2019 PBR Junior Future Games.

SS/OF Spencer Butz is a 6.50 runner currently ranked No. 75 in the PA Class of 2021. RHP/1B Daniel Kanagy (East Juniata) is a two-way prospect that should also impress. He has put together a solid spring and summer that will likely see him move up from his current ranking of No. 101 in the Class.

2020 RHP/SS Levi Clemens (North Marion, WV), is the lone player on the roster from outside the state. He stood out at the Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase this summer sitting in the low 80s off the mound while displaying a well rounded skill set as a two-way prospect.
