Today is our final breakdown on players from the 17U bracket of the Mid-Atlantic Summer Championships that occurred last week.

Mid-Atlantic Summer Championships 17U Part III:

Caleb Stancil RHP Thomas Dale 2021

Strong physical frame. Started against the Sandhogs on day one and was very effective. Kept their hitters off balance with a 75-77 mph fastball that offered consistent cutting action and pounded the zone with that pitch. Had a 66-68 mph 11/5 breaking ball that he used to keep hitters honest. At the plate had some big at bats for the Hornets with a line drive single into left on a curveball and during his next at bat hit a line drive single to center on a fastball.

Jaden Kinsler LHP Glen Allen 2022

Left handed arm that works out of a low three-quarter arm slot with a simple repeatable delivery. Challenged hitters with a 81-84 mph fastball that tended to play up out of the hand. Topped out at 86 mph. The breaking ball, 62-64 mph, was not a factory early as he tended to slow the arm down and was struggling to find a feel. As the game progressed Kinsler seemed to find the feel and rhythm with the pitch and it was a nice complement to the fastball.

Camden Weston 2B Thomas Dale 2021

Compact athletic frame with solid defensive skill set. Short path to contact at the plate and uses the whole field in at bats. Appears comfortable battling deep in counts and fouling pitches off working an at bat. Seemed to be a great teammate and played with a lot of energy.

Landon Scott Atlee 2022

Athletic frame with room to add strength. Starts open at the plate, strides in landing on line, and hands load in rhythm. Hits against a firm front side, is balanced, and stayed inside at contact working gap to gap. Had some nice at bats throughout the tournament flashing doubles power.

Lincoln Lubsen C/RHP Walsingham 2021

Strong athletic body that has definite two-way potential. Behind the plate Lubsen offers solid receiving skills to go along with above average blocking ability and advanced catch and throw tendencies. Hunts contact out front and has present pull side power with gap to gap power potential. On the mound Lubsen worked early at 83-86 and velo trended up as his outing progressed. Ended up 84-86 and bumped 87 multiple times and 89 once. Displayed feel for a breaking ball that had 11/5 shape at 73-75 and a few 77's mixed in. Has the ability to be a really solid secondary pitch. Lubsen has continued to impress and is trending up in VA/DC uncommitted players.

Vincent "Tank" Yaghoubi OF/LHP Woodberry Forest 2022

Compact framed athletic defender in the outfield that had a really nice week all around. Short compact stroke at the plate that has feel for the barrel and stays inside at contact. Worked gap to gap and flashed some doubles power. Is an above average runner with the range and arm strength to play all three outfield positions. Played the game hard and competed every pitch.

Ryan Kennedy RHP Colgan 2022 (Virginia Tech)

Long projectable 6-foot-4 frame with room to add strength. Normal effort delivery on the mound with a short quick arm from a high three-quarter arm slot. Fastball was an easy 87-89 and touched 90 mph a few times. Slider showed swing and miss potential at 81-82. High ceiling arm who still has some velo jumps left.

Garret Huffman 3B Rockbridge 2021

Square athletic stance at the plate and strides forward landing slightly closed. Hands drop slightly on load, but does a nice job keeping them inside and adjusts well throughout. Level path to contact and displayed ability to use the whole field in approach with line drive tendency. Had some quality at bats and was on base often throughout the tournament. Is a solid defender at third base with some lateral range and an accurate arm across.

Cameron Murray 1B Mountain View 2021

Strong, physical, projectable frame. Smooth hands and rangy at first Base. Showed strength and present power at the plate with feel for the barrel. Consistent loud contact with quick hands and fast bat speed through the zone.

Michael Sweeney C Mount St. Joseph 2021

Strong, physical frame. High level defender behind the plate with lateral quickness and a strong, quick release. Receives the ball well and showed ability to block balls in the dirt effectively. Quick bat speed at the dish with solid extension past contact. Lower half involvement allows for power gap-to-gap with more projected.

Caden Bodine C Haddon Heights (NJ) 2022 (Coastal Carolina)

Slightly open crouched stance at the plate. Minimal hand load and is direct to contact with a level path swig. Is balanced throughout the swing. Did a nice job of controlling the barrel and solid timing to contact. Had a couple hard line drive singles in his game on Wednesday. Behind the plate displays high end receiving skills with hip mobility and is an above average blocker. Throws have carry through the bag with accuracy. Was one of the most advanced and complete catchers throughout the tournament.

Brian Hart RHP Benjamin Cardozo (NY) 2021 (Stony Brook)

The recent Stony Brook commit was impressive during his outing on Tuesday. Worked primarily from the stretch with an athletic delivery. Has a quick arm circle with big time arm speed from a three-quarter arm slot. Fastball sat 85-87 mph and touched 90 mph twice during his outing.

Brandon Coughlin RHP Hempfield Area (PA) 2022

Fluid repeatable delivery on the mound. Short quick arm with some deception from the three-quarter arm slot. Primarily worked in the 81-84 mph range, but looked like he could reach back and grab 85-87 whenever he needed. Was one of the more intriguing uncommitted arms that we saw during the tournament.

Kyle Lenhart IF/OF Pine Richland (PA) 2021

Balanced approach at the plate with strength in the swing and frame. Strides forward and lands on line with a short path to contact. Does a nice job getting hands on plane and flashes some present power to the pull side. Solid barrel awareness and has the strength to hit in the middle of the order and drive in runs.

Gage Gillott RHP Connellsville 2021

Big, physical 6'0" 175 pound frame. Carries himself well on the bump and controls tempo. Pitches to both sides of the plate with command of fastball and curveball. Throws from a high three-quarter slot with occasional arm side run on the fastball. Fastball plays up in the zone and sat 84-86, top 87 mph. Curveball had big 11/5 shape at 67-70 mph.

Tyler O'Neill RHP/C WC Mepham 2021

Athletic, strong, projectable frame. Throws from a three-quarter slot with easy effort. Ball explodes out of the hand with natural arm side run. Strong leg drive down the mound with good command of both pitches. Fastball was heavy and played down in the zone at 86-88 mph with 2,000 - 2,300 RPM. Threw sharp BB at 70-72 mph with solid command down in the zone.

Dallas Griess OF Williamsport Area 2021 (North Carolina)

Athletic, projectable frame. Speedy outfielder who can cover ground with fluid actions. Strong arm with athletic footwork. Smooth, quick swing from the left side with fast bat speed. Quiet at the dish with solid lower half involvement and a nice middle to opposite field approach.

Vincent DiLeonardo OF Fredericksburg Christian 2021 (Elon)

Athletic body type and 6'1'', 190 pound frame. Starts open at the plate with a high leg kick load with rhythm. Easy swing with quick bat speed through the zone.
