By Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

Following the completion of a full lineup of winter indoor events and in preparation of the first pitch of the high school baseball season, it is time to roll out our first update of the calendar year to our class of 2017 rankings.  This update includes the addition of 35 prospects as the list grows to a total of 240. The next and final update for this class will likely come in early July following the completion of the high school season and shortly after the start of the PBR summer schedule.

Just Outside the Top 10

A pair of pitchers to keep an eye on this spring are Penn State recruit, LHP Jeff Taylor (Penn Manor), and St. John's recruit, RHP Adam Stauffer (Coatesvile Area). The two have made similar marches through the rankings and are positioned to possibly make a case for cracking that final list at the end of the spring.

Both have drawn MLB Draft interest. Taylor has shown incremental velocity gains with his fastball and commands the best breaking ball - changeup combination of any lefty in the class. Stauffer at 6-foot-5, 230-pounds has a frame built for a starter's workload at the next level and likewise has shown velocity spikes over the past 12 months.
