August 22, 2017
By Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting
Following a summer full of PBR events and in advance of the release of our updated PBR overall rankings release for this class, it is time to roll out our next update of the 2017 calendar year to our Class of 2019 rankings. This update includes the addition of 55 prospects with the list growing to a total of 105. The next update will likely come in early November following the completion of the Elite Prospect Showcase, which annually culminates our evaluation of the top ranked prospects in the state for the calendar year.
Of the 105 players ranked in this update, 23 have already made their college commitments, including 22 of the top 25 on the list. This number will grow significantly prior to the next update in November.

Biggest mover
The biggest mover in this update is Lakeland RHP Jacob Hodorovich, a Virginia commit, who excelled at the Area Code Underclass Games earlier this month. Hodorovich set down six straight batters with five strikeouts in his two innings of work. The Virginia commit was outstanding in two innings of work. Hodorovich set down six straight batters with five strikeouts. The 6-foot, 175-pound right-hander is a loose athlete who gets impressive extension out front where he follows through and nearly scrapes the ground. He delivers out of an over the top slot, and was able to pull down fastballs at 87-89 that whisked through the bottom of the zone. He countered the fastball with a firm, 75 mph true-12/6 curveball with multiple-tier break and tight spin.
