Unsigned Senior Spotlight: 3B/RHP Matt Kline

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

Matt Kline was a 2015 Mid-Penn Colonial Division all-star as a junior. The 6-foot, 200-pound two-way prospect displayed a solid skill-set at the Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase in July. The right-handed hitter starts slightly open and uses a weight shift stride with a strong lower half to create a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. Kline keeps his head still with lower half movement and the ball jumps off his bat head. Defensively, Kline plays low to the ground and shows a quick release. Kline displayed an 82 mph arm across the diamond and ran a 7.26 60-yard dash.

The uncommitted senior also showed next level ability on the mound during the course of his junior season. Kline works from an  over-the-top arm slot sitting 80-84 while hiding the ball well. He attacks the inside corner with his fastball which led to missed barrels and 7 Ks over 5.1 innings of work on the day we saw him throw. Kline also flashed a big overhand curveball that was 67-70 and came out of the same tunnel as his fastball leading to plenty of swings and misses.
