Updated and Expanded 2020 Rankings

TJ Hunt
Director, PBR New Jersey

The 2020 class in New Jersey has made some strides over the last few months with some newcomers and risers in the rankings. The Top 10 of the rankings features 4 pitchers and 6 position players. Two of those position players have committed to Virginia and Vanderbilt, respectively – with RHP Kenneth Levari (St. Augustine Prep HS, NJ) being the lone committed pitcher in the Top 10 (to Old Dominion).

No. 1 ranked player in the class, C Kyle Teel (Mahwah HS, NJ) and No. 2 SS CJ Pittaro (Steinert HS, NJ) remain at the top in this edition of the rankings. Both Teel and Pittaro are left handed hitting position players, a coveted aspect of hitting – especially at catcher and in the middle infield. Teel's raw athleticism and lean, athletic build coupled with his strong arm and quick release from behind the plate help him maintain the top slot. Pittaro has broad shoulders and a more physical build with a short, simple approach at the plate. Pittaro plated 2B during the high school season and immediately rose to the top of recruiter's radars as one of the best players on one of the top public school teams in the state.

RANK   NAME STATE SCHOOL CLASS POS COMMITMENT
1 Kyle Teel NJ Mahwah 2020 C Virginia
2 CJ Pittaro NJ Steinert 2020 SS Vanderbilt
3 Tommy O'Rourke NJ Seton Hall Prep 2020 RHP
4 Adam Boucher NJ St. Joseph's Metuchen 2020 RHP Duke
5 RJ Moten NJ Delran 2020 OF
6 Christian Kane NJ Washington Township 2020 OF
7 Braedin Hunt NJ Christian Brothers Academy 2020 RHP
8 Nick Hammer NJ Washington Township 2020 RHP
9 Aidan Kane NJ Madison 2020 OF
10 Kenneth Levari NJ St. Augustine Prep 2020 SS Old Dominion

No. 3 RHP Tommy O'Rourke has a clean arm with sound mechanics and has gotten his fastball up to 88 MPH. Typically sitting 82-85, O'Rourke's curveball has a big 11/5 break and he has the ability to control it for strikes.

No. 4 RHP Adam Boucher (St. Joseph's Metuchen HS, NJ) had a monster fall out of Metuchen and Baseball Warehouse. With a fastball that consistently sits 84-86 touching 87-88 and a broad shouldered, athletic build – Boucher is the fastest riser so far in the class.

No. 5 OF RJ Moten (Delsea HS, NJ) is a relatively unknown prospect from South Jersey, but will not be for very long. Moten has a projectable wiry-athletic build at 6-feet 170-pounds with advanced speed for his age.

Christian Kane comes in at No. 6 with a well-known resume of talent. Kane was widely considered one of the best freshman in South Jersey in 2017, and showed well out in Indianapolis with Team New Jersey in August – lacing a triple in the first game into the gap. Kane has a high ceiling with his lanky build and 6.75 60 yard dash.

No. 7 RHP Braedin Hunt (Christian Brothers Academy HS, NJ) and No. 8 RHP Nick Hammer (Washington Township HS, NJ) are extremely similar in their pitching ability. Both have been up to 87 and both sit comfortably 82-85. Hunt edges Hammer for right now with his explosiveness and power slider at 73 MPH.

No. 9 OF Aidan Kane (Madison HS, NJ) is a major name to watch for this spring. A left handed hitter that burst on to the scene at the Sophomore World Championships in the fall, Kane's swing has a smoothness to it that is one of the best in the class.

Old Dominion recruit No. 10 RHP/SS Kenneth Levari (St. Augustine Prep HS, NJ) has a quick arm with a fastball up to 85 MPH in the fall and command of a curveball as well.
