Norcal ProCase

Body:  Small, athletic, muscular, compact frame built for rigors of catching position. Currently Frame is maxed and stiffness may be settling in the upper body, so room for physical growth may be limited.

Hit:  Short stroke, yet ball jumps off bat. Head stays on ball with ability to make adjustments during in-game at-bats. Blast data indicates there may be some swing and miss due to average “Connection” metrics.

Power:  Shows raw power in BP. Plus bat speed, backed up by Blast metrics. Presently gap-to- gap, will develop with age.  Creates excellent leverage with short limbs and gets into a powerful hitting position at contact. Recorded a high exit velocity of 100MPH, suggestion there will be more power in the future.

Field:  Average receiver, with quick hands. Instinctual player that profiles as a catcher, adn moves well laterally. Has the foundations of a middle-infielder and is able to throw from multiple positions.

Arm:  Average arm tool, that has some carry. Throws to second base were online with pop times in the 1.94-2.07 range.

Run:  Runs extremely well for a catcher. Top of the lineup type speed clocking a 6.87 60-yard.

Summary - Comp: Christian Vazquez (Boston Red Sox) - Parker’s home will most likely be as a catcher, however strong, athletic players that have versatility in their game; a plug-in-play type, are extremely valuable on college rosters and give the option to play everyday. There’s no question he has the physical tools, strength, and impressive metrics to back it up.  The question will be, can he take his current tools and enhance them in a way that will show in a steady progression.

Vs Leigh: UC Santa Barbara commit. Parker burst onto the CCS Focus scene as a Sophomore at Los Altos and it doesn’t look like he is ready to stop anytime soon. The frame is strong, wide and athletic with easy footspeed and actions that will carry over to the next level and beyond; the strength is obvious. Parker did just about everything starting at SS before moving to 3rd and then finishing the game on the hill. The baseball instincts continue to stand out with him telling other hitters what to look for from pitches and also positioning guys defensively; leadership skills stood out. The arm is a weapon pushing to be plus with easy firmness across the diamond fitting the left side. His glove actions and first step suggest 3B will be the future home, but he looked fine playing SS at the HS level. Stands with bend in knees and open keeping hands high at the back shoulder and high back elbow; quiet forward move and good transition of weight starting the swing. Hands are quick and easy creating a slightly upward bat path. Drove a ball to RF in 1st AB to execute and score a run and then showed his athleticism down the line on a fielder's choice to the 6-hole (4.4 H-1st). Came into finish the game with his quick compact arm working from a H-¾ slot; really can ride the slope and utilizes his hinge to create easy velocity. FB 85-88 with 2-seam action and ability to go up for swing-and-miss. CB 69-74 with late bending depth in 12/4 shape. CHG 76-78 had fade to the arm-side. One of the top 2021 players in the section.

4/04/19

At Saratoga - Uncommitted. Medium frame that is strong and full with wide shoulders and a lean waist; second viewing and it’s a more physical build than I initially gave credit. Wide base with opened stance having crouched bend. Hands start at back shoulder with high back elbow wiggling bat. Hands stay as he loads into back hip using legs well in swing staying balanced. Swing has quick upwards arc and flashed quickness in the swing to the pullside; times of leverage and ability to create loft from backspin of the ball. Patient at the plate and doesn’t expand the zone. Ripped a ball right at the LF in 1st AB and showed excellent quickness out of the box on groundball to SS during next AB (4.21 H-1st) causing errant throw. Frame is more athletic than initial look with strong flexibility and quickness utilized on bases and behind the plate. Took 2nd on 1st move from LHP beating throw from 1B and stole 2nd after walk without a chance from catcher. Behind the plate was good all game allowing 1 ball to sneak off on a swing and miss but otherwise being a wall smothering pitches. The glove hand was strong showing a good target with controlled movements and the arm fits behind the plate with a compact and quick release. Regularly had balls on the bag or gloveside during throws to 2nd (2.0-2.14) with in game caught stealing at 2nd (2.25) knowing he had the guy and making sure he made a solid throw to the bag. Is the anchor in the Eagles lineup and has room to keep improving. A name for 2021 class to follow.

3/16/19

Vs Pioneer - Uncommitted. Younger brother to Ben Parker. Reached base 3 times during game with 1B, 2B, BB. Wide, medium frame that is stocky and strongly built frame. Stands open and crouched with lean over the back foot keeping hands at the back shoulder and a high back elbow. Rocks into back hip with soft front foot allowing him to stay behind the baseball. Bat is flat, staying through the zone well with able to drive ball showing pullside focus currently. Shorter, choppy step out of box that plays better underway (4.78T); showed more agility than true speed with ability to move quickly in short spaces especially on defense. Played well at 3B showing quick reactions and making plays laterally while also being able to come get a top ball putting a strike to 1st from a low angled throw. Arm has enough for the position with flashes of more during pregame throws across the diamond. Stocky build might be a concern later on down the line, but he’s still got some growth there and the defense and bat both showed well.
