V Pacific Grove - Ventura City College commit. Small framed, lean, wiry-muscles speedster showed long limbs. Quick 1st step used in CF and out of the box. On base three times with 2 walks and a 1B. Stole 2nd base on 1st move from the LHP taking 2nd on the pick to 1st without a throw to 2nd base. Slappy bat fights off pitches looking to put the ball in play and use his speed. Can be a leadoff type CF at next level. Also the top pitcher for the Aztecs.
10/27-10/29/18 - NCTB Fall Classic - Small 5-foot-7, 150-pounds on athletic frame, compactly built showing lean muscles in upper half with more strength in quads/thighs. Slightly open setup that utilizes a toe lift to be on time with the pitcher; even hands show a small rock back before quickly attacking pitches. 86 exit velocity in BP showing ability to spray line drives from a compact swing and middle field focus. Average arm showed well in testing, up to 82 from the OF with throws on a line; CF arm showing range in the position. Quick out of the box and utilizes speed on defense as well. Ran a 7.02 60 yd dash with same speed showing up on base paths as he goes 1st to 3rd. Long term future is in OF, but jumped on the mound and showed a compact arm that got the Fastball 74-75. Also showed feel for a slider 63-66 that he used frequently with the ability to change the shape.
10/7/18 - Central Coast Open - Uncommitted, 5-foot-7, 150-pounds, plays much bigger than listed size, athletically proportioned with strength throughout yet maintains good athleticism in all he did. One of better all-around uncommitted seniors in this region. One of the fastest runners at the event with a 7.01 60 yd dash on a slower surface. Offensively he flashed a top of the order bat with a slightly open setup that utilizes a toe lift to be on time with the pitcher. His even hands show a small rock back while loading and flashing quick bat speed that produced line-drives to the middle of the field while showing gap power with balls carrying due to back-spin. From the outfield he showed a quick and compact arm (78 MPH) that utilized his body well. Throws regularly produced carry while being online to the bases.
Pitching - Compact athletic build, overhand slot, easy quick arm action, good rhythm to delivery and his tempo. Good direction down the slope though spins off through extension, taking away some life. More lower body stability will allow for more extension and more life on all pitches. Fastball fairly straight with occasional slight cut (76-79 mph), curveball got better as he worked into the session, 11/5 shape with rolling action (65-66 mph). Change-up was best pitch (68-74 mph) as he threw it with feel and occasionally plus feel. Maintained arm speed consistent with his fastball.
