2019, SS (University of Washington) Christian Dicochea has a medium frame that is strong and athletic. I took in two game this week where Dicochea was playing, Monday against IMG and Thursday against West Ranch. On Monday, he recorded a double and one rbi that came in a huge situation. On Thursday, he didn’t record a hit but had two quality at-bats where he worked a pair of walks. At shortstop, Dicochea has a strong arm and is looking comfortable at the position. He makes accurate throws and has consistent mechanics. He has plus range and can make every play. He profiles very well as a second-baseman at the next level.
1/30/2019- University of Washington signee. 5-foot-11, 175 pounds. Medium frame, strong and athletic. Dicochea is a spark plug, always looking for the extra bag, type of player; prototypical top of the order hitter. He operates from a slightly open set-up with a leg kick. Has a nice line-drive swing, can foul off tough pitches and is aggressive at the plate. He had a solid day at the plate going 2-for-3 with a double, a single, and an RBI. He puts pressure on the defense with his excellent first step. In the field he has a strong arm and can make every throw from all angles with accuracy to the bag. Does tend to sit back on the ball instead of attacking. Profiles well as a second basemen at the pro ball level.
