OC Preseason All-State: The uncommitted junior shortstop continues to pack the strength onto his frame and the result is an athletic middle infielder that can make just about any play and throw necessary while pounding balls at the plate. Hildebrandt’s strength has translated to a more powerful game from the plate where he registered an 84 mph exit velocity before taking to the on-field BP portion where he shows his short to the ball approach with an extended follow through. Consistent with the barrell, Hildebrandt drove balls gap-to-gap with his final ball going off the left-center field wall. Defensively he continues to show a powerful and accurate arm along with the footwork and hands necessary to stay at the position in the future. Plays with excellent control of his body and an internal clock that see him get rid of the ball quickly.

PBR CA STATE GAMES - Small, full frame with some current strength. Even hands, high back elbow with hand pump timed to front knee lift. Hands work upwards through the zone with flashes of lag in the zone from the bat; lots of hard contact with nothing to show from it. Made plays on the move defensively showing the skills to be an offensive 2nd baseman with good hands and footwork around the bag.

SoCal Preseason All-State. Uncommitted. This is our 3rd look at Hildebrandt at a PBR event. Displayed a focused batting practice round hitting the ball hard with gap power. Hildebrandt exhibits lightning quick hands, and release with excellent range to left & right. First step and lateral quickness are above average allowing him to get to balls right of second base or shallow right field. Has the ability to throw from all angles. Displays excellent awareness and acumen all-around. Hildebrandt is not a burner, but exhibits tremendous instincts and is opportunistic on the bases. Has enough to steal a bag & take extra base when the situation calls.

9/15/18

Displayed decent actions and a fair feel for the ball at both shortstop and second base. On the infield he featured soft hands, took nice angles to ground balls, and flashed decent agility. His current arm strength is slightly below average, but it seems to have the potential to be average at worst. At the plate Hildebrandt features a compact swing that is fairly short to the baseball with nice bat to ball ability. He showed nice plate coverage and the ability to hit the baseball to each field. He possesses a small frame standing at 5'8", but his body seems to have some thickness and durability to it.

8/18/18

SoCal Underclass Games - Five-foot-7, 155-pounds, medium frame with some present strength and twitchy instincts. Present strength in the lower half and in shoulders down through the arms. There's a lot to like in Hildebrandt both at the plate and defensively where his instincts and baseball IQ make him play much bigger than he is. He shows excellent range to both sides as demonstrated by his stop up the middle (he was playing 2B) where he slid, backhanded the ball before coming up firing a laser to first base to get a speedy runner. Makes excellent adjustments to get hops. Arm is whippy and strong and able to make throws from all angles. At the plate he has good leverage that results in sneaky power from a gap-to-gap approach. Maintains his barrel path through the hitting zone for a long time. Shows the ability to adjust to speeds and picks up spin easily.
