PBR California Staff

New Episode LIVE now! At The Yard Podcast

COVID ended the 2020 season early throughout the State but as things progress quickly for the 2021 high school season, it’s time for us to preview teams from around the State in the Yearly Preseason Preview. Schedules are being adapted to fit the ever-changing landscape and though this season may look different than history has shown us, coaches/staff, players, families, and our team are preparing for 2021 to be as successful as possible.

We’ve submitted the Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state and their responses have been flooding in. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be using their detailed insight on our team-by-team previews ahead of the 2021 season leading into the California Power 25 Rankings.

SEASON OUTLOOK:

Cypress has been one of the premier teams in the Southern Section coming off a 2019 D1 Title. This year will be a little different than the 2019/2020 teams as Coach Weber’s Centurions are very young and inexperienced returning only 22 innings on the mound and 3 position starters from last year. Coach Weber sees that youth as a positive, with the players being focused on the moment and looking to make a name for themselves. With an inexperienced group of varsity baseball players and a small number of practices, this group will have to learn in the line of fire. It won’t be easy with an extremely difficult schedule, but Coach Weber sees this group getting better as the season progresses and the players understand what it is being asked of them. The Centurions expect to compete for the top of the Empire League and Coach Weber is ready to help shape the youth into another group for the top of the Southern Section.
