1/13/19

Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Continues to grow, now up to 6-foot-5 210-pounds and as a young man he still has more growth ahead, high-3/4 slot approaching overhand, short stride that he controls well, as his lower body gains more functional strength his extension can continue to improve and enhance the life of his stuff, fastball 73-76 mph and fairly straight, best pitch is big curveball 60-61 mph and that pitch can still improve with some tighter spin, floating change-up 67-68 mph, still quite young and growing into a big body is a challenge.

XL frame with long legs showing high waist and sloped shoulders; not a finished product with space to continue to add strength to fill out the frame. A heavy runner with long leg stride (8.13 60-yd dash). Tall, balanced stance with even hands in back shoulder and bat resting on the back shoulder; quick foot lift and tuck with hands lifting and turning the barrel to pitcher. Good weight transition with bat flashing quickness and ability to get through the ball creating leverage into deep gaps; quick barrel arc works with slightly uphill bat path showing future power potential (84 exit velo). Smooth and controlled around the bag with looseness in his hips; times where he plays a bit high. Arm plays with a quick bow and arrow styled throws putting the ball where it needs to be; arm flashed more available which translates more to the mound (69 mph)

8/25/18

N CA Underclass Games - 6-foot-4, 205-pounds, big body, full body type, still young in muscular development, high-3/4 slot, controlled backside arm action, cross body stride, pitches with some body control which is intriguing for a larger young pitcher who still isn’t near as strong as he will be. Arm speed is still a work in progress but he doesn’t force it and works more on locating. Got to good extension at times and the arm is loose enough to write the name down and check in sometime in the future. Worked with a pretty slow tempo. Pitch to contact approach with three pitches. Curveball ranged in velocity which can keep hitters off balance so long as he locates it well. Mixed in the change-up too.
