Long Beach State commit. 6-foot, 175-pounds. Large, physical frame with present strength throughout and plenty of room for continued physical development. Moeller backed up his state ranking with a strong performance overall that saw him register a 91 mph exit velocity off a tee and an 85 mph infield velocity from first base where he shows the nimble footwork of a player smaller than him. Moeller took to the mound where he was making his third appearance since the end of the season and the southpaw didn’t disappoint by pounding the strike zone with an 86 mph fastball that he put wherever he wanted and often overmatched hitters thanks in part to the late running action on the pitch. Moeller backed that up with a devastating curveball at 73-75 that flashed tight spin with late 1-7 break from the same tunnel as the fastball. Moeller then flashed his above average feel for his changeup at 77-80 mph that flashed late diving action leaving righties baffled.

6-foot, 185lbs junior has some physicality to his frame and room to put on good muscle. The left handed swing is pure, consistent and violent. Maintains the barrel on plane through the hitting zone consistently often squaring it up. Demonstrates a mature approach, shows excellent plate coverage and an understanding of his pitch he wants to hit.

Moeller is coming off a spring that saw him miss the first seven weeks of the season due to a broken hand and boy is he making up for lost time. Moeller is proving to be one of the better bats in the class from the left side with his present power to the pull side and he has the ability to wear out the right-center-field gap too. Moeller has one of those classic, pure swings you see from lefties and his ability to read spin is improving dramatically. The recent Long Beach State commit did not pitch in the tryout, but we have seen him up to 86 with the fastball.

Inland Empire Future Games Trials - Moeller once again impressed with his overall game. At 6-foot, 175-pounds there’s some physicality to his frame, but there’s room for continued strength gains. After registering a 91 mph exit velocity off a tee Moeller took to the field where he sprayed line drives to all fields showing a penchant for the right center field gap. Shows a middle-middle approach with some present power that should develop. Maintains the barrel on plane creating excellent angle at point of contact. He’s a slick fielding first baseman with nimble and agile footwork. Understands angles and gets there before the ball. Athleticism really stood out during the defensive workout portion. On the mound he pounds the zone with a fastball/curveball/changeup mix showing excellent command of both pitches. Fastball topped at 85 with life and run to the arm side as it enters the zone. He’s able to spot it consistently. Curveball shows depth and can be sharp while the changeup has fading action away from righties.

SoCal Preseason All-State (fielding) - Moeller shows athletic movements around the bag with nimble footwork for a player his size. Arm strength is average presently while his exchanges are quick/clean with fast hands. Those hands serve him well at the plate where his left-handed stroke is pure and consistent. Maintains the barrel on plane throughout the hitting zone consistently often barreling balls to the gaps. Shows good plate coverage and an awareness/understanding of his pitch.

SoCal Preseason All-State (pitching) - 6-foot, 175 pounds, strong and mature build for age. Starts tall with a high leg kick and three-quarter arm slot. Mechanics were rushed and inconsistent but flashed potential and ability with all three pitches. Fastball was heavy and featured run and an average to above average velocity for age. Rushed towards home plate consistently which caused him to fly open and live on the arm side of the plate. Curveball break was gradual and released from the same arm slot and with the same arm speed as the fastball. Change-up featured a lower arm speed than the fastball but did feature parachute like action. Repeatable mechanics, improving rhythm and off-speed development project well for him down the line.

SoCal Preseason All-State Quick Hits - Moeller showed very well both at the plate and on the mound. Has a smooth left-handed swing with some power in the bat as demonstrated by the few balls he hit off the wall in the gaps. Registered a 91 mph exit velocity. Flashes nimble footwork around the bag at first base and a sure glove there. On the mound he was very impressive flashing command of three pitches with his changeup showing plus potential.
