8/1/18 - Six-foot-5, 205-pounds, large frame with evenly proportioned strength throughout the frame, strength through his squared shoulders and down to the wrists. Large feet and long limbs. Nyrop is an athletic big-bodied pitcher who also plays first base and shows a good hit tool. Arm action is loose and easy from a high ¾ borderline over-the-top arm slot. Arm speed is average with very little effort that generates downhill plane. Velocity projects for gains once Nyrop incorporates his lower half into the delivery more consistently and lengthen his stride. Fastball shows late sinking action along with some armside run. Changeup shows some armside run when thrown with conviction. Curveball has downer shape with late breaking action which spots at or below the knees. Nyrop seems more comfortable from the stretch projection as a reliever presently.
8/1/18 - Six-foot-5, 205-pound, frame with broad shoulders and strength in the lower half. Nyrop's body can easily add mass and strength. Nyrop hammered balls to the pull-side and gaps in BP, and posted a 93 mph exit velocity off the tee. He has an athletic base with a tall upper body posture in his stance, utilizes a slight load back with his body over his backside and then uses quick hands to drive the barrel through the ball where he gets full extension. The power is easy and smooth. Hit a HR over the trees beyond left field and peppered the wall with several other hits. On the bump, Nyrop has a quick arm from a high ¾ slot that generates big time downhill plane. Shows good balance with easy effort while staying inline to the target and finishing in an athletic position. Curveball shows plus potential with its shape and break. Shows feel for a changeup. Once he develops the comfort in driving his lower half he should see a huge bump in velocity.
