10/7/18 - Central Coast Open - 5-foot-8, 130-pounds, lean athletic build on a talented young player who looks to be a 2022 to follow. One of the fastest runners at the event with 7.06 60 yd dash. At the plate he keeps high hands and a high back elbow from a balanced stance. He shows a small load and the ability to make quick turns and transfer his weight through contact with a direct bat path that finishes higher creating loft on the balls he drove to the middle of the field. From the OF he showed off a very strong arm (79 MPH) that gets out of the glove early and showed longer actions before having carry and utilizing his hops to put the ball where he wanted. Given his tools and talents as a freshman, Barrese is a player all colleges in California should be aware of.

Pitcher - Rhythmic tall and fall delivery, overhand slot, long easy arm action on backside and through to extension. Simple delivery in regard to hands as they stay essentially where they start until separation. Maintains good stability and balance and direction, athletic delivery he can repeat. Lower body can provide more power with timing and gathering over the rubber. Does yank head a bit off line due to the high release. Fastball had some length through the zone (76-78 mph), curveball was 12/6 shape though smaller in terms of the amount of bite/break, sort of a tilted slider (66-68 mph), firm change-up (74-75 mph) with occasional run. Certainly has a chance to develop into a high quality pitching prospect.
