Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 160 pounds. This is one of the most energetic players you can find in our deeply talented state, and it’s very refreshing to see a player who can truly stick at SS in college, which is very uncommon. Combine that endless energy with a top of the scale run tool, and you have Gus Gandy. He’s run 6.5 at PBR events, which is a true mark of speed. We have the most precise 60’s you’ll find with Swift technology, and there are no cheap 60’s to be found in our organization. If you run it at PBR, the speed can’t get any more legit. Gandy’s elite speed shows almost better in game, where his elite instincts lead to great jumps on the basepaths and very good anticipation at SS. He controls his body at an extremely high level and is comfortable being off balance, with the play difficulty rarely impacting his throwing accuracy. The arm is plenty strong for the position, and his lightning quick exchange allows him to make throws on time without being in a rush. He can throw from any angle and make every play with ease regardless of where the ball is hit. He’s one of the scrappiest hitters I’ve seen, a near nightmare for opposing pitchers who never gives in at the plate. He’ll bunt on you, work a 12 pitch AB, work a BB, or he’ll jump on you first pitch. Whatever D1 he lands at will be getting an immediate contributor.

Body: 5-foot-9, 158-pounds. Highly athletic, some quick twitch
Hit: SH. Narrow, open setup, low hands with barrel vertical, cocks hands and turns barrel towards fields, short stride, great balance. Short barrel path to the zone, extension through the zone allowing him to lift with easy effort, gap-to-gap approach, consistent.
Power: 85.4 max exit velocity, averaged 77 mph. 309’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 83 mph. Athletic arm that plays loosely from any angle, carry on all throws and accurate.
Defense: An athlete up the middle with natural instincts, soft, savvy glove hand, quick exchanges, and ultra quick footwork, swagger.
Run: 6.56 runner in the 60. Clean gait, quick feet.
