6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitting utility-player, strong build that will only continue to add strength as he continues to physically mature, a high level defender. Defensively, worked out at catcher, on the infield and in the outfield. Has plenty of arm strength to handle any of the three positions as his arm works short and loose from catcher and infield, lengthens things out from the outfield with a full arm swing, 85 from the outfield, 84 across the infield, 84 from the crouch, profiles as a corner infielder/outfielder in the field. Behind the plate, is a strong blocker, reaches for the ball and gets around at-times when receiving, makes up for it with advanced arm strength, clean on exchanges, 2.11-2.25 pop times. In the field, attacks the ball with confidence, soft glove hand, clean and fluid actions. Offensively, balanced setup, short stride, loads hands to a near arm bar, good balance. Barrel path is level through the zone creating line drive contact, flashed the ability to drive the ball, 82 exit velocity off a tee. On the mound, short, quick arm action, high ¾ slot, whippy hand speed. Tall and fall delivery, works on-line, lands toe-closed, finishes square to home. Fastball, running action, 82-84, touched 85. Cut-fastball, gets on top of creating downer action, 76-78. Curveball, aggressive with, 12/6 shape, 74-75. Changeup, near fastball arm speed, fade action, 73-74.

5-foot-11 175-pounds. One of the top performers of the weekend. Impressed on the mound and at the plate. On the mound he worked up to 86. Stayed around 83-85 most of his outing. Spin rate was 2100-2200. Really good life and action on the FB. Arm works well in the delivery. Room for the velo to climb if he can get more out of his backside. Only showed the SL a couple of times, but it had a really good break to it. Strong two way player with a high ceiling.

2/11/2018- Peach State Games

"Mac" McCommons is a good looking young baseball player with an excellent frame and life to his body. At the plate he is upright in his approach and creates leverage with his swing. He has a hits our of a wide base and at times wants to get forward to soon, having to slow his bat down to keep it in the zone. As he learns to stay behind the baseball, "Mac" is going to have the ability to drive the ball to all fields. His path is good and looks as though he will be able to do some damage in the future. As he gets stronger look for McCommons to add more power to all parts of his game. Defensively he moves very well behind the plate and shows the ability to move laterally with ease. He is light on his feet and recovers very well on blocked balls. His flexibility is a huge plus for him as he moves forward. You are still having to project strength to his game, but McCommons has the actions that should translate well in the future. Exciting future for this live bodied young backstop.
