Troy State Commit. 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. Having this type of talent on call in the bullpen might have been the most important weapon for the Vikings in this series. It shortened the game for them, knowing all they had to do was get to the 6th/7th inning with a lead and Thigpen would shut it down is a very comfortable feeling. He exploded onto the PBR scene last fall at UGA scout day, grabbing a 91.1 and showing an advanced fading CH to tunnel off of it. Thigpen is well known within our scouting staff for having shockingly rare FB metrics (see tweet below) that will enable him to absolutely dominate the top of the zone as he gets used to commanding the pitch up there. Combine his incredible metrics with a 10 mph jump in velocity over the past year ½, and you’ve got a player in position to become a legit prospect for the 2024 MLB draft. Noah has a prototype frame built to produce big velo, as he’s high waisted with broad shoulders and long arms+legs. He also has an elite delivery that takes full advantage of his long levers, enabling him to be as explosive as possible while maintaining the strike throwing ability. Despite not pitching the 1st half of the season due to a strain, Thigpen has immediate success in the 2nd half and showed a much improved SL in the state championship series. The pitch showed much more significant sweep than our last time seeing him, with a noticeable improvement in depth. He didn’t need the CH much, as he got ahead with his FB and put hitters away with his SL or more heaters. But the pitch has just as much potential as the SL, if not more. Noah also came through in the clutch as a bat for Lowndes, producing multiple hits for huge RBI’s that were just as important to the team as his pitching. We look forward to tracking the next steps in his process this summer, and can easily see him taking the next steps with his FB velo and consistency of his offspeed pitches.
Underclass Games - Pitcher Analysis
Positional Profile: RHP/3B High level pitch ability with projectable stuff.
Body: 6-foot-0, 180-pounds. Broad shoulders, high waisted, lean strength throughout with more on the way.
Delivery: Drop and drive delivery, creates good drive with strong lower half, works on-line, lands teo closed, finishes crossing over.
Arm Action: RH. Long, whip-like arm action, loose with quick arm speed, gets extended allowing stuff to play up.
FB: T85.8, 81.4-84.8 mph. Heavy sinking action, bowling ball, feel for. T1953, 1618 average rpm.
CB: 69.7-71.9 mph. 11/5 shape, aggressively spins, potential swing and miss pitch, feel for. T1808, 1723 average rpm.
CH: 77.5-78.0 mph. Heavy sink, feel. T1390, 1390 average rpm.
Underclass Games - Infield Analysis
Positional Profile: RHP/3B Power arm
Body: 6-foot-0, 180-pounds. Broad shoulders, high waisted, lean strength throughout with more on the way.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, hands start back with barrel on shoulder, lifts on load, short stride, good balance. Short, direct path to the zone, level with extension through, gap-to-gap approach with driving power.
Power: 90.5 max exit velocity, averaged 78.6 mph. 307’ max distance. Power potential.
Arm: RH. INF - 87 mph. Long, loose arm action, quick arm speed, easy carry across the diamond.
Defense: Fields out front with a confident glove, shuffles through with a clean exchange, creating momentum towards the throw.
Run: 7.59 runner in the 60.
