Physical, high-waisted 6-foot-4, 215-pounds on the mound. Creighton commit. The right-handed pitcher showcases a quick rocker-step delivery with swinging down the mound landing square to home. Throws from a long to short ¾ arm slot. Fastball at 86-88 mph with run and sink showing above average life, averaging spin of 1982 rpm. Slider features tight 10/4 cut action with depth, 72-74 mph, spinning at 2006 rpm. Changeup thrown firm with late down action in the lower half of the zone, 73-76 mph.

Big frame. Long lanky arm with more in the tank. Johnson’s fastball sat 83-85 and topped at 86mph, with cut. 10/4 curveball was 69-72mph and sharper. He also added two singles at the plate. Projectable arm. Creighton commit.

Body: 6-4, 210-pounds.
Delivery: Short rocker step, builds tempo and rhythm, athletic actions, swings down mound landing inline with catceher.
Arm Action: RH. Longer out of glove, shortens into ¾ slot with some funk creating deception.
FB: T90, 87-89 mph. Late run and sink. Above avg. fastball life away from barrels.
CB: 74-75 mph. Sharper and breaking ball is more consistent and has improved.
CH: 70-72 mph. Late fading action on CH in bottom of zone for strikes.

Hit: RHH. Square stance, linear actions, line drive swing plane, solid extension through zone, hard line drive contact to middle of field.
Power: 91 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. INF - 90 mph.
Defense: Athletic movements in field, shows ability to throw form multiple angles, works from ground up.
Run: 6.57 runner in the 60.

+ Creighton commit, RHP Easton Johnson (Gilbert HS, IA) is a high-upside, right-handed arm who started for the Iowa Sticks in the morning game. Johnson has a high-waisted, athletic, 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame and short clean arm action. The projectable right-hander worked down in the zone with a heavy fastball that was up to 90 mph. As Johnson continues to improve his direction and repeatability his stock will climb.

3/11/18- 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.5 runner. Square stance, choppy knee to knee trigger, inverted swing plane, spray contact to mid/pull side of field, avg. barrel control, 81 mph exit velocity. Decent athlete behind plate, raw movements, extra step in footwork, shows arm strength, avg. accuracy to bag, should continue to develop body control with maturity and strength gains, 78 mph arm strength with 2.08-2.16 pop times. On mound; projectable frame, short compact arm action, shows rhythm and body control that will continue to improve with maturity and strength, high ¾ arm slot, repeats well and commands zone. Fastball has running action at 79-81 mph. Changeup is above avg. with heavy run and sink. Solid depth on breaking ball with 11/5 shape.


10/29/17- 6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.76 runner. Slightly crouched athletic setup, active hand rhythm disrupts timing occasionally, long levers with extension through contact, mid/away approach, spray contact, 81 mph exit velocity. Has momentum and direction through plate, clean exchanges, repeatable arm action, quiet and relaxed receiving breaking balls, avg. blocker, 72 mph arm strength with 2.09-2.2 pop times. On mound; high knee to balance point with body control, lands slightly open to plate, with short 2-piece arm action. Fastball was 75-77 mph with flashes of late run and sink. Wraps 11/5 breaking ball early with avg. command of zone. Rolls hand over changeup creating solid fade and sink.
