Committed to the University of Illinois as a junior ... Walton is a quick-twitch athlete with an extremely high upside. The 6-foot, 170-pound shortstop ran a best in class 6.98 60. Walton also showcased solid actions, quick lateral movement, and excellent range at shortstop. At the plate he stays on top nicely using a compact swing a line drive approach with pull power potential. Slick-fielding shortstop ran a 6.84 60 at PBR event; swings it, too. Top-level hands in the field. The 6-foot, 170-pound Walton is clearly one of the premier middle infield prospects in the state. A top-level athlete, he showed impressive speed, running a 6.72 60 on a slow, wet track. Defensively, Walton has advanced defensive actions; he has tremendously quick feet, soft hands and excellent carry across the diamond. Offensively, Walton showed a level swing with quick, athletic hands.
