The Southeastern Illinois JC commit helped propel Alton to the Sectional Semi-Final with his bat and his arm. In the Regional Semi he collected an outfield assist in the top of the first inning. He also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, four RBI's and a run scored. He finished on the mound with a perfect seventh inning to close out the win. In the Regional Championship he went 1-for-3 with a walk and overcame. He also finished off the 4-3 win on the mound with a bases-loaded strikeout.

Uncommitted. Rathgeb had an impressive week going 6-for-10 (.600) with two home runs, a double, four RBIs, four runs scored, two walks and one stolen base. In Alton’s 11-9 win over Jerseyville, he went 2-for-4 with a home run, one RBI and one run scored. He also earned the save on the mound, striking out two and walking one in an inning of work.

Uncommitted. The sturdy 6-foot, 200-pound outfielder swung a loud barrel all game for the Redbirds. Rathgeb led the offense going 3-for-4 with a run scored, with repeated hard contact to the middle of the field. From the right side, his hands load down and toward the center of his body while swinging with a level path with a line drive approach.
