Behind his mid-80s fastball with late arm-side action, Leach has been posting big wins on varsity since his sophomore year, when he posted a 6-1 record with a 1.89 ERA. Last spring, despite having a 1.76 ERA, Leach went 5-4 with a save. In 47.2 innings, he notched 70 strikeouts and 16 walks. In two varsity seasons he has tallied 131 punchouts. ... Leach is a 6-foot, 215-pound left-hander who impressed with an 85-86 mph fastball with some late life. Leach�s arm works cleanly and quickly, and his fastball had good arm-side run and some sink. Leach also showed a 73-75 mph changeup with nice arm action, and a developing 68 mph curveball. Leach is a wide-shouldered 6-foot, 220-pound left-hander who topped at 84 mph, sitting at 82-83, with arm-side run. Leach displayed solid balance on the mound while showing a feel for all three pitches. Leach�s curveball exhibited an 11/5 shape with some depth. His 75-77 mph changeup had late sinking action and kept it down in the zone. The 6-0, 205-pound Leach has an extremely strong lower half for a sophomore and clean pitching mechanics. Has excellent balance on the mound, to go along with a 79-81 mph fastball. Has the ability to throw three pitches for strikes.
