6/12/14 - 6-foot-4, 200-pound LHP currently ranked No. 37 in Illinois’ class of 2016 was the top pitching prospect at this year’s Underclass Trials. Currently uncommitted. Impressed with easy, quick high ¾ arm action from smooth delivery producing 83-85 mph fastballs with late cut boring in on right-handed hitters. Shoulders work uphill as he really loads lower half and gets a good hip bump going towards home plate. Struggles to command fastball at times due to back foot heel slipping towards home plate on the mound, throwing off his direction towards home plate, causing him to land closed on his front foot, limiting his extension and feel out front. Locking back foot in on the mound should fix the problem, and help him repeat his delivery more consistently. Showed improved feel of 70-72 mph curveball with occasional 12/6 action that backed up at times. Also threw 70-75 mph changeup with good arm speed but erratic command. Miller’s frame and clean arm action make it easy to see him operating in the upper 80’s or low 90’s in the next couple years.
4/9/14 - Currently ranked No. 37 in Illinois’ 2016 class. Sturdy, proportionally strong 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame, solid lower half, room for continued physical development. Fastball sat at 81-82 in the first two innings, touching 83 once. Works downhill, straight fastball consistently thrown for strikes. Clean arm action, high-3/4 slot, could likely add velocity if lengthens out stride. Curveball registered between 64-66 mph, consistently around plate with it.
Physical left-hander with intriguing upside
