RHP Colson Welgat (Kewanee, 2025) made his Prep Baseball event debut this past Tuesday and emerged as a follow in the class. He’s a 5-foot-10, 152-pound prospect with athleticism in the frame and seemingly more strength to come. On the mound he showed a clean, easy delivery with minimal effort paired with a long, loose arm action out of a ¾ slot. His fastball sat 79-82 mph and came out of his hand clean. He turned to a curveball that showed 11/5 shape with quality spin (2,359 rpm), and a slider that he threw from a lower slot, sitting 72-74 mph.

Body: 5-11, 155-pounds. Trim, loose-levered frame.
Hit: RHH. Tall stance, medium stride, hands work. Short, direct to the ball with a mostly flat path, quick hands through the zone, works middle/opposite field. 72.2 mph bat speed with 11 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 82.5 mph. 322’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 80 mph. Long, loose arm action, 3/4 slot.
Defense: Fields ball to body, clean transfer, moves well up the middle.
Run: 7.53 runner in the 60.

CB: 69-72 mph. 11/5 shape, sharp break. T2460, 2359 average rpm.
SL: 72-74 mph. 10/4 shape, sharp break, lowers arm slot. T2428, 2104 average rpm.
