9/03/25
The strong-bodied, 6-foot-3 right-hander stole the show with the most electric ‘pen of the day. He has a controlled delivery with a slight coil into balance point, holding some bend in the back knee while working in-line down the mound, some intent behind it with a quick arm, long and loose from the glove with a ¾ slot. The fastball exploded out of the hand at 93-95 mph, peaking at 96 mph with carry and finish through the zone. He also showed a shorter slider at 81-83 mph and cutter at 87-89 mph with a short wrinkle and over 2,500 rpm on average.

Dylan Mannino, RHP, Belleville East (IL), 2023 Uncommitted. A transfer from Western Kentucky, Mannino has an intriguing frame with lean strength throughout. He’s a simple mover on the mound with a loose and easy arm, showing clear acceleration out front. During his ‘pen, Mannino’s fastball sat 90-91 mph with carry through the zone and quality spin (avg. 2200 rpm). He showed feel for a sharp-breaking slider that sat 78-80 mph. Mannino also mixed in a high-spinning cutter in the mid-to-upper-80s with noticeable cut through the zone, and rounded out his mix with an 83-84 mph change-up with fade at times.

6/01/23

Verbally committed to Western Kentucky.

5/19/23

Western Kentucky commit. Mannino started on the mound against then No. 10 Edwardsville and pitched well despite the 2-1 loss. He threw six innings, struck out eight, walked three, allowed one run and three hits.

5/05/23

Western Kentucky commit. Last week Mannino threw 5 â…” innings in two games against No. 21 O’Fallon. He struck out eight, allowed no runs and two hits. In his second appearance on the week, he threw 3.2 innings, struck out seven, walked two, and allowed a hit.

4/06/23

Western Kentucky commit, slotted at No. 46 overall in the Illinois’ 2023 class. 6-foot-3, 165-pound frame with lean strength and projectability. Entered this game in a key relief spot, striking out six and not allowing a run over 3 â…” innings out of the ‘pen. Quick worker, front hip coils inward onto his backside, drop/drive mover downhill. Pushes off the rubber, works across body, lands onto a closed front foot and finishes with his momentum carrying forward. Arm swings with some length on the backside, works from a ¾ slot with arm speed out front. Fastball played at 86-88 mph with natural run and sink. Confidence to spin slider when ahead or behind, flashed late lateral action at 78-81 mph for strikes and whiffs out of the zone. A power arm with a two-pitch mix that can be an asset in relief now and at the next level.

5/10/22

Verbally committed to Western Kentucky.

3/17/22

Uncommitted junior emerged as a high-follow arm with his outing at the Kickoff Classic. 6-foot-3, 165-pound, high-waisted, projectable build. Came out of the bullpen and showed swing-and-miss stuff, striking out 10 and not allowing a hit in four innings of work. Fluid delivery, slight drop and drive, directional down the mound, lands front-toe closed. Long, loose, quick arm out of a ¾ slot. Pitches with intent and goes right-after hitters. Was fastball heavy throughout his outing getting a number of swings and misses in the zone. Fastball jumps out of the hand at 89-90 mph, touching 91 with late hop through the zone and showed control. Went to his breaking ball sparingly. Gets around and underneath the breaking ball at times but showed tight spin off an 11/5 plane at 71-73 mph (2381 rpm). Given his slot, a hard slider could be in his future. Mannino has seen a 13 mph jump in his fastball over the past year. Back in February of 2021 Mannino attended the Aurora Preseason ID and topped at 78 mph. Seems to just be tapping into his high-ceiling. Uncommitted arm to follow closely moving forward. Should make a big splash in the soon to be updated 2023 Illinois rankings.
