Uncommitted. Stands in a compact 5-foot-8, 160-pound with athleticism. Started at short for the Comets, making an impact both at the plate and on the field. At the plate, Matznick has a simple, square setup with his hands starting at his shoulders, slight toe-tap trigger, and gets his hips all the way around through the swing. He has a quick, direct-to-ball swing that stays in the zone for a long time that produced a 3-for-4 game at the plate with a hard-hit double out of the leadoff spot for Newman. His athleticism was on display at short, making some difficult plays ranging to his left and making strong throws across the diamond. A must-follow name headed into his senior year.

Stood out defensively up the middle, making multiple good plays throughout the weekend. Athletic mover with steady hands that showed the ability to stick up the middle at the next level. Arm played well across the diamond, making accurate throws during IO. At the plate he’s a right-handed hitter with minimal pre-pitch movement, short and direct to the ball with a mostly flat bat path, took quality at-bats, but finished the weekend with one hit. Follow prospect in the soon-to-be junior class.
