Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 34 in the state. Compact and proportionate frame, 5-foot-8, 181-pounds, round shoulders with a strong lower-half. Started in right-field and hit out of the five-hole, walking twice, flying out to center and lining out to second on a hard-hit ball. Loose left-handed swing with quality swing decisions and minimal chase or swing/miss, disciplined with a clean and balanced operation. Steady defender in the outfield with sure-handed actions, arm is above-average with strong, accurate throws.
2/15/26

LHP/OF JD Farkas (Hersey, 2028) stands in a strong and athletic 5-foot-8, 181-pound frame. He showed well during his bullpen where he showcased easy and athletic movement patterns on the mound with a long, clean arm path out of a ¾ slot. The polish of his arsenal impressed, starting with his fastball that worked 82-86 mph with arm-side action. He mixed in a curveball at 69-71 mph with 1/7 shape, and a change-up at 74-77 mph with slight fade. Farkas also showed to be an athletic left-handed hitter as well. Working from a loose, slightly uphill path, he generated hard elevated contact to the pull-side; peaking at 93.7 mph off the bat with a peak distance of 354 feet.

10/19/25

LHP/OF JD Farkas (Hersey, 2028) has long been a staff favorite, and he continued to impress with a strong two-way look over the weekend. There’s some present strength in his compact, 5-foot-8, 175-pound build. On the mound, he’s extremely polished with feel for four pitches, and his delivery is very repeatable and simple. He works exclusively out of the stretch with a high and controlled leg-lift into balance point, drops into his back leg and rides it down the mound in-line. Clean arm circle, ¾ slot. Showed two different fastballs - a four-seam at 80-84 mph with slight run, and a sinker with more arm-side action and feel around the zone, 77-80 mph. Showed advanced feel for his tight curveball with 1/7 shape, landing it in the zone 100% of the time per TrackMan, 66-70 mph. Also went to a fading changeup at 69-72 mph, flashed feel around the zone and plays clean out of the hand. Farkas showed to be one of the better left-handed hitters in attendance as well; showcasing a loose swing, flat path, and line drive approach that generated backspin contact to the middle of the field. He had the fourth-highest max EV (96.2 mph), fifth-highest average EV (86.5 mph), third-highest average distance (234 feet). To round out his strong performance, he tied for the second-highest outfield velocity for the event at 86 mph.

6/10/24

Farkas gave us an interesting look Saturday afternoon. Listed 5-foot-6, 155-pounds with a strong lower half. The left-handed pitcher punched out 10 batters over four innings, allowing two runs on three hits and walking two. A stretch-only pitcher comes set closed off before driving off the back leg towards home. Works from a short arm action with a low 3/4 slot. Farkas got up to 81 mph on the fastball in the first inning before settling down to 75-77 mph. The main secondary pitch was a breaking ball, profiled like a slider with 10/4 horizontal movement sitting 63-64 mph. A changeup was used at times playing in the low 70s.
