Calcagno showed well on Sunday on the mound, throwing four innings and allowing one run (unearned) on three hits with six strikeouts. Strong build at 6-foot-4, 210-pounds. Explosive delivery. Straight fastball at 81-85 mph with a curveball thrown for strikes at 68-70 mph.
RHP Jack Calcagno (IC Catholic Prep, 2024) is a long-limbed 6-foot-4, 215-pound right-hander that came away with one of the more impressive ‘pens of the day. With a powerful drop/drive delivery, Calcagno uses every ounce of his large frame to help move downhill while his front-side remains strong at release, working from a short and clean high ¾ slot. He ran his fastball up to 82 mph, sitting primarily 80-81 mph with arm-side ride to the plate. His changeup looked to be his preferred offering from this ‘pen, possessing feel for the strike zone with fading action at 72-74 mph, kept mostly down. Calcagno also went to a sharp breaking ball that plays off an 11/5 plane with depth, thrown for strikes at times at 66-69 mph.

Body: 6-3, 215-pounds. Tall, athletic build. Strength throughout.
Delivery: Worked exclusively out of the stretch, athletic leg-kick into balance point, drop/drive lower-half down the mound, strides in-line to the plate, front foot lands slightly closed.
Arm Action: RH. Short arm out of the glove, moves into a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T81.6, 80.3-81.4 mph. Plays with a downward angle into the zone at times, mostly straight with some life out of the hand. T2085, 1971 average rpm.
CB: 66.1-69.3 mph. Gradual 11/5 shape. T1914, 1851 average rpm.
CH: 72.2-74.3 mph. Sinking action to the arm-side with feel. T1571, 1443 average rpm.
Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 6-2, 170-pounds.
Delivery: Stretch only, starts closed, high leg lift, repeatable, athletic delivery, strong front side, balanced finish.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, high 3/4 arm slot.
FB: T78, 75-78 mph. Flashes arm side run. T2123, 2086 average rpm.
CB: 64-66 mph. 11/5 shape, gradual action. T1731, 1675 average rpm.
CH: 70-71 mph. Sink/fade at times. T1516, 1482 average rpm.
Hit: RHH. Tall, narrow setup, leg lift, long stride. Short swing, path works uphill, stays inside the baseball, used the middle of field, line drive approach.
Power: 82.58 max exit velocity, averaged 74.81 mph. 242’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 67 mph. High 3/4 arm slot, accuracy in throws.
Defense: 2.25-2.38 pop times. Feet work around plate on throw downs, clean exchanges.
Run: 7.84 runner in the 60.
