5/03/23

Stands at an athletic and projectable 6-foot, 180-pounds. Started in right field and batted in the cleanup spot. Went 1-for-4 on the day with a home run, three RBIs, and one run scored. Barreled up a mid-80s fastball to over the left-center fence, attacked the fastball, struggled with the offspeed pitches. Showed athletic actions in the outfield and the ability to track down the baseball.

RHP Kolten Schmoll-Burton (Geneseo, 2025) showed off a more polished delivery and better feel for his repertoire than we have seen in the past. Listed at 6-foot, 180-pounds, the right-hander works with a controlled tempo throughout his delivery, moving into a powerful drop/drive lower-half that stays in-line with the plate throughout his stride - transitioning into a long/loose high ¾ slot. His fastball sat right at 79-80 mph throughout his ‘pen with some finish through the zone and slight arm-side life. He went to two different breaking balls; the first being a slider at 66-69 mph with sharp 10/4 action - and the second being a sharp 11/5 curveball at 64-66 mph.

7/12/22

RHP Kolten Schmoll-Burton (Geneseo, 2025) came away a winner from Tuesday’s event, boasting the strongest arm off the mound in attendance with a max fastball of 84.4 mph. His fastball played with heavy sink through the zone and sat in the 80-83 mph range. The right-hander then went to a sinker, acting as a changeup at times due to the speed differential; playing at 74-75 mph with fading action and thrown with intent. His next offering was a cutter in the 66-67 mph range, playing with sliding 10/4 action and an average of -15.3 inches of horizontal movement; also showing a legitimate chance to develop into an out-pitch as a slider. His final offering was an 11/5 curveball in the 64-65 mph range with developing shape.
