6-foot-5, 245-pound frame. Ruttkay had a dazzling start Friday morning, picking up six strikeouts in 6.2 innings while allowing only one run. Ruttkay operates through a ¾ slot with short, clean arm action that has effort in the delivery. Ruttkay utilizes his big body as well as a medium leg lift and a tall/fall approach. Ruttkay’s fastball sat in the low 80s, topping out at 84 with some arm-side-run. MIxed in a low 70s breaking ball that had sharp actions and high 70s changeup that he kept down.

Hit: RHH. Tall setup, hands load back in rhythm, bat wraps with a high back elbow, short stride.  Loose, strong hands, fluid rhythm, easy effort and ball jumps off the barrel. Gap-to-gap, middle of the field approach with present power.
Power: 96.4 max exit velocity, averaged 92.8 mph. 355’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 73 mph. Long, loose arm action. High 3/4 arm slot. Some length to release.
Defense: Average hands. Clean exchange.
Run: 9.20 runner in the 60. 

1B Matthew Ruttkay (Glenbrook North, 2024) brings an imposing presence into the batter’s box, built at 6-foot-4, 233-pounds. His physicality showed at the plate in BP, as Ruttkay generated hard gap-to-gap contact with easy effort throughout his round. The ball jumped off his barrel at a 92.8 mph average in BP while also reaching a peak of 96.4 mph and 356 feet, per TrackMan.
