5.27.17 - Illinois commit. Currently ranked No. 6 in the Illinois Class of 2017. 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher. Dominated in the Regional Championship against Kenwood allowed just two hits and struck out 13. Fastball shows late finish thru the zone, worked at mostly 88 mph during the outing. Topped out at 92 mph in the second inning. Slider shows late breaking action at 82-84 mph. Also featured some curveballs late in the outing at 76-78 mph. Competes with big mound presence.

3.20.17 - Illinois recruit. 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher, currently ranked No. 98 in the PBR 2017 overall Top 400 list. Making his first start for top-ranked Brother Rice in chilly temps, Kutt did what he has done nearly every outing since his freshman year, which is to say throw a high volume of quality strikes, miss barrels with his slider, hold velocity and, above all, compete like few others. In five shutout innings, Kutt struck out seven with no walks, and allowed six hits (only a few were barreled). Kutt once again confirmed that his slider is the most dominant single out-pitch in Illinois. He throws it hard - and for strikes - at 81-84 mph with sharp, late two-plane break. True swing-and-miss offering at the next level. His fastball sat 88-90 in the first three innings, topping at 91. Pitched at 86-88 in the fourth and fifth innings. Also wrinkled in a few 74 mph curveballs with mixed success and a few 79-80 mph changeups. Works from a high-3/4 slot, repeats his delivery, calm, confident demeanor on mound. Around the plate with everything, clearly has a plan and knows how to execute it. Overall big-game winning approach.

10.24.16 - Was dominant in his 1.1 innings of relief during the Chicago Scouts Association’s run-rule victory over D-Bat. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Illinois recruit rendered hitters helpless with his hard, late-breaking 80-82 mph slider. Kutt throws his slider with aggression - and consistently for strikes - as he struck out three of the four outs he recorded. Kutt’s fastball sat 87-88 mph.
5.11.16 - Illinois commit. Ranked No. 16 in the Illinois 2017 class and No. 109 overall. 6-foot-2, 180-pound, durable, wide shouldered right-handed pitcher. Flashed a true three pitch mix, throwing all three with confidence and in any count during a complete game four hitter. Competes, works fast, attacks hitters and exudes confidence on the mound. Up-tempo delivery, high front side, stays on-line, works downhill with all of his offerings. Quick arm action out of a high ¾ slot with some effort. Fastball sat 86-89 mph throughout, topping out at 90. Held his velocity throughout, sitting 87 mph in his seventh and final inning. Fastball works mostly straight, life and tilt when down in the zone. Breaking ball, thrown hard, aggressively, fastball arm speed, with feel, varies between slider/cutter action, swing and miss pitch, thrown to lefties and righties; sharp, late action, sat anywhere between 80-85 mph. Changeup, confidence, feel and threw it in any count to any hitter; aggressive, fastball arm speed, fade action, sat 78-82 mph. Mixed heavily throughout the outing, starter profile at the next level, athletic on and off the mound. 2017 draft follow. Final Line: 7IP, 4H, 1R, 0ER, 6K, BB.

4.5.16 - Illinois recruit, ranked No. 16 in the Illinois’ 2017 class. 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher with strength in his lower half. Delivery is up-tempo, clean and repeatable with smooth rhythm throughout. Worked fast, pounded the strike zone and did not allow a runner past second base in his six innings of work. Short, quick arm action out of a high ¾ window; arm works clean, occasionally drags and fastball flattens out when out of the stretch. Fastball sat 83-85 mph, arm-side-run and sink at times when he was able to get extension out front. Slider flashed depth and downer action when down in the zone; left it up in the zone when he missed, sat 77-78 mph. Slider was his strikeout pitch. Flashed a changeup at 75 mph. Overall, good mound presence, challenged hitters and had confidence in his fastball/slider combination. Final Line – 6IP, 4H, 0R, 9K, BB.

4.21.15 - 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed hitting RHP/1B, ranked No. 3 in IL, No. 38 overall in 2017 class, making noise with the bat this season, hit fourth homer of the season to center field for the eventual game winner. Hits from a balanced setup, low hands, short stride, cleared out front side early in the game a bit, made adjustment later on waiting back, slightly uphill bat path, looking to pull. Impresses with strength and bat speed (88 mph exit velocity). Kutt is committed to Illinois, and could get a chance to hit at the next level, in addition to his prowess on the mound.

3.20.15 - 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-hander ranked No.1 in Illinois’ 2017 class, No. 21 overall, works from short, quick, clean, high ¾ arm slot, repeats delivery well, momentum towards home plate, stride direction in line with home plate, strike thrower. Fastball sat 84-86 mph, touched 87, exhibits arm side run, have seen more sink in past. Slider had occasional plus depth, swing-and-miss pitch in 75-77 mph range, may have relied on it too much when getting into trouble. Flashed 76 mph change. Allowed 2 earned runs in 3 innings of work, six hits, struck out four, all on slider.
1.18.15 - 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed hitting 1B/RHP is currently ranked No. 1 in Illinois’ 2017 class, No. 21 overall. Kutt did not pitch at the Underclass, but did prove he may be able to swing the stick at the next level when he steps foot on campus at Illinois. Hits from a crouched setup, short stride (picks foot up), hands are held low, very little movement in load, simple/repeatable approach, short, level bat path, fluid rhythm, line drives up the middle in batting practice, 88 mph exit velocity off the tee. Defensively, threw 84 mph across the diamond from long, loose, quick, high ¾ arm slot, accurate arm with carry, gets rid of it quicker when on the move, showed soft hands fielding. Kutt may be one of the top 2017 arms in the Midwest, but he showed he’ll make a contribution all over the diamond for Brother Rice this spring.
8/2/14 - Kutt is a 6-foot-1, 168-pound right-handed pitcher who was one of the top 2017 arms in attendance at the 2014 Future Games.  He has advanced pitchability for a sophomore in high school, with a feel for three pitches, especially his hard, late-breaking slider.  Kutt’s fastball sat 85-87 mph on day one, which was a quick outing with three ground ball outs.  On day two against Team Indiana Kutt struck out the first two hitters looking with his 77 mph slider.  His fastball sat 84-85 with sink, and he also shows a feel for a 74-75 mph change.  He allowed a ground ball single up the middle, that Jeremy Houston nearly turned into a highlight reel play, and Cooper Johnson cut down that runner at second to end Kutt’s outing and give him two clean, scoreless innings over the two days of games.  He shows the maturity of an older player both on the field and in the dugout, and should be one of the top arms in the competitive Chicago Catholic League over the next three years

2/25/14 - The 6-foot-1, 165-pound right-hander looks to be one of the premier freshmen prospects in Illinois. Kutt shows a polished three-pitch repertoire, including an 83-84 mph fastball with late arm-side life. His curveball is an advanced pitch for his age. He throws it aggressively, in the 76-77 range, and it is sharp and tight with good depth. Kutt has an athletic arm, works from a high-3/4 slot with a shorter arm action. As he physically develops he should continue to add velocity in the coming years.
