Brother Rice Wins Regional Title

CHICAGO, IL – Ryan Kutt and Brother Rice blanked Kenwood 5-0 to win the De La Salle Regional Saturday morning.

Ryan Kutt, an Illinois commit, was flat out dominate over seven innings for Brother Rice. Kutt finished the game allowing just two hits and striking out 13 Bronco hitters. Kutt worked at an easy 86-88 mph for most of the outing and reached back for 91-92 when he needed it early on. His slider was the difference maker inducing a number of swings and misses in the outing. 

Rice broke the game open in the bottom of the second when Andy Lopez homered to start the inning. Jake Ridgway walked and Sam Jones singled after the Lopez homer. Both came around to score to make the lead 3-0. Rice added insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double from Jack Guzek and RBI single from Kutt. Tim Mahay finished the game 2-2 with an RBI for Rice.

D’Eric Shenault went 2-3 for Kenwood at the plate.
