So. MIF/RHP Ryan Skwarek (Crystal Lake South, IL) was a two-way winner from the event. As a position player, Skwarek returns a .384 batting average and 20 doubles in 151 at-bats. He has an athletic right-handed swing that worked on the barrel with loose wrists and whip through the zone, topping out at 96 mph for his EV with a max distance of 362’. On the infield, he boasts natural and easy actions with a well above-average arm that plays with accuracy (T89 mph INF). On the mound, he’s a clean, athletic mover with a quick arm, cruising around 88-90 mph with the fastball. He also showed some feel to spin a low-70s breaking ball and flick in a low-80s changeup to round out his three-pitch mix.

McHenry County JC commit. In Crystal Lake South’s 6-0 win over Dundee-Crown, Skwarek threw a complete game shutout on the mound with six strikeouts and four hits allowed.

Body: 5-11, 165-pounds. Lean build.
Delivery: Athletic delivery, stays on the backside and rotates out of a coiled hip position, strong front side to footstrike, works in line to target.
Arm Action: RH. Quick arm, high ¾ slot.
FB: T87.9, 85.8-87.3 mph. T2166, 2093 average rpm. Straight four-seam type with some backspin carry into the zone; averaged 18 inches of IVB.
CB: 70.5-71.6 mph. T1728, 1662 average rpm. 11/5 shape, gradual action.
CH: 71.1-74.3 mph. T1707, 1640 average rpm. Lowers slot on average to fastball. Played with heavy arm-side action, averaging an event-high 23.2 inches of horizontal movement, per TrackMan. 

Hit: RHH. Athletic base, short stride.  Loose swing, repeatable, level path through the zone, line-drives on the barrel, whole-field approach.
Power: 94.5 max exit velocity, averaged 85 mph. 260’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 83 mph. Short arm action, high 3/4. Flashed accuracy.
Defense: Natural, easy actions on the infield. Feet work around the baseball. Plays with body control on the move.
