Heilenbach is an athletically built 6-foot-3, 175-pound right-hander with a free and easy arm action from a 3/4 arm slot. Heilenbach commands three pitches, down in the zone, and all for strikes. His easy 87-88 mph fastball features arm-side sink. His 75 mph curveball can be a swing-and-miss pitch, but his 77-78 mph changeup looks to be a legitimate out-pitch at the next level, as he works it down in the zone with heavy sink. Heilenbach's ability to command three impressive pitches makes him a top-level recruit in the 2012 class. Earned the top prospect honors at the PBR Class of 2012 Top Prospect Showcase in December, 2011. ...

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Heilenbach has a lean, athletic build and loose arm, throwing with good extension through his target. His fastball sat 85-87, touching 88 mph with impressive life and arm-side run. Both his changeup and curveball should develop as a result of his considerable hand speed...The loose and athletic 6-foot-2, 170-pound Heilenbach is one of the premier right-handed pitching prospects in the state. Coming from an easy three-quarter arm slot, he showed the ability to throw three plus pitches, including an 85-86 mph fastball with late arm-side life. Heilenbach also threw a firm slider with late two-plane break. His best pitch, however, was a changeup that displayed late fade and excellent arm action.
