He shows minimal chase out of the zone and will use the whole field with a twitchy, athletic swing, adding a hard lineout to the opposite field later in the game. Kentucky commit. Currently ranked No. 6 in the state and No. 183 nationally. Lean, present-strength 6-foot-2, 196-pound frame. Batted third and caught for the Vikings. Showed to be perhaps the top prospect on the field throughout the game. The left-handed hitter has a calm, hitterish look in the box with a twitchy swing, barrel control, and barrel strength, while also showing the ability to use the whole field with a simple approach. He launched a loud home run to dead center in his second at-bat, drove in a pair of runs with a quality piece of hitting in his third, and showed high baseball IQ in his final plate appearance; drawing a walk on a wild pitch, immediately breaking for second to force an errant throw, and taking third without hesitation. Behind the dish, he is a comfortable receiver with loose wrists who presents pitches well at the bottom of the zone in an effort to steal strikes for his pitchers, and he continues to show a strong arm out of the chute, posting 1.90-2.02 pop times between innings. A high-follow prospect and one of the top catchers in the junior class.
Lean, broad shouldered 6-foot-3, 199-pound frame with more room to add. The left-handed hitter impressed with explosive hand-speed and bat-speed (76.5 mph average) with ease. He showed minimal effort to create his 106 mph peak EV, averaging 98 mph in his round with a clean, athletic and balanced swing that showed middle of the field intent with natural lift (T401’). He’s a high-level defender behind the plate with a confident glove while receiving, and the transfers paired with his strong arm helped create a pop-time down to 1.78 (T82 mph). High-level left-handed hitting backstop with a well-rounded toolset, also a 6.84 runner in the 60.
Verbally committed to the University of Kentucky.
