3/10/20: A graduate transfer from Cornell, Simoneit has made big impressions already in his Demon Deacon career, his latest a walk-off solo home run to win game two of the Louisville series. With a country-strong 6-foot-4, 235-pound build and pop in his bat he fits perfectly into the physical bodied and power-packed Wake Forest lineup. He currently leads the team with a .383 batting average. His swing has a slow trigger with slider bat speed and he needs to get it going early, but he has plenty of bat strength to make it work. His game-winning home run left the yard at 104 mph to left field. Simoneit also ran a 4.38 down the line on an infield single. Defensively, he has an above-average arm with good body control and sure hands. He showed the ability to play third base and catcher (2.06 in game POP to the bag). He also made a snap throw behind the runner at first base for a pickoff. At this point he’s a slam dunk to be selected in the top 10 rounds as a senior sign. However, unlike many other seniors who are selected to save bonus pool money in the top 10 rounds, Simoneit is a bona fide prospect. (Seifert)
